Railcard on top of a season ticket

Hi guys, I'm a little confused about this railcard stuff.

Situation: I'm a full time student living in Stafford (ST17) and have to travel to Birmingham approx 4 days a week for Uni. My boyfriend lives in West Bromwich (B70) which luckely is the stop before.

For a 12 month season ticket its £1348, which is 25.92 a week. If I use my railcard then in theory the season ticket should be £943.60, a weekly £18.15. A huge savinging as return to Birmingham is £8.90.

My question is can I use these two together? Also is there anything else I could do to shave some amount off of the total cost?

Cheers!

Hi, I'm sure someone with a better answer will come along, but I travel a lot on Chiltern Railways, and they say its railcard or season ticket, can't use both.

Not sure what rail company you would be using, but they should say somewhere on their website.

Im afraid railcards aren't valid on season tickets or peak travel, they specifically don't want them to be used by commuters

Not true. Senior Railcards can be used for peak travel, as long as the journey is not wholly within London and the SouthEast (former Network SouthEast area). Student Railcards can be used during the peak, but a minimum fare applies before 10.00 (£7.00 single, £14.00 return last time I looked). You are correct in stating that railcards cannot be used to obtain a discount on season tickets, however.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?
