Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear

    Are thinking of you today.

Just another thought- are the out of catchment schools you are considering close to where you will live or do other kids in the area attend an of the schools you are considering. Does your child already know children in the area and know the schools they attend/will attend. Will she be able to make friends with the local kids if she's not at the nearest school or will she be able to see her friends after-school if she lives further away from them

Not at all unreasonable! I was very fortunate in that half term in the area we were moving from was the week before half term in the area we were moving to, so we could have a look round then.

Just gone through a simillar dilema myself. My oldest son will start secondary school in sept '06. I've spent hours trawling ofsted reports trying to find the right school for him. Our catchment school is the second worst in the county(20% a-c pass rate)the pupils rule the roost. The other schools he could go to are not much better. We decided to move to get him into a better school, but it is a nightmare trying to find out what schools are good and which ones are not as most people have different perspectives on it. I know some people who think the aforementioned school is a good one!! We visited the school we've chosen and my son thought it was great.

the couple of schools we looking at on friday arnt that far away and im looking at them because she has made some friends already who have started the school this yr so will be a yr above her if she gets in.. The girl next door will attend another out of catchment school she will get in because her sister already goes there. she has made a few friends were we are going to live it was one of the reasons my partner moved there 18 months ago and we have been going up and down didnt want to just up and move and have a struggle with her, this way she loves the idea of moving there. My daughter has the confidence to make friends whatever school she goes to and as secondary school so new and big thought the best time to do the move would be when she went to sec school then it wont be so frightning for her.. mind you im terrified of it all lol my baby is growing up..

  • If you will be living in Aylesbury and you don't/can't get into the two grammar schools (AGS is for boys only) your choice is limited to Quarrendon, Grange & Mandeville. Depending on where you will be living the chances are you are more likely to get put into the school in which catchment area you live in. TBH there isn't that much of a difference between the three.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
