Best questions to ask

Our fixed rate deal (with Nationwide) ends Nov this year.I have set up a meeting with HBOS (who we bank with) mortgage advisor on Monday and was wondering what are the best questions to ask:confused: regards getting the best deal around.
I realise that HBOS will show a bias to their products but was wondering if anyone could help me in drawing up a list of questions to ask them.
Thanks in advance for any help:beer:

HBOS will only advise on their products. You can save yourself some time and just look on their website to see exactly which deals are available through them -

    http://www.bankofscotlandhalifax.co.uk/mortgages/home.asp

You can then get a comparison over the best buys on the market by using a website such as https://www.moneyfacts.co.uk

Thanks for that, I know HBOS will only supply facts about products they give, it was more what are the best questions to ask when meeting them. Its been a while since we changed mortgages and im a bit rusty:rolleyes: about these things.

    Main things will be

    Rate
    Fees

Then perhaps flexibility - overpayments, underpayments (if these are of importance to you).

You also need to think about whether you want the stability of a fixed rate (and if so for how long) or something variable like a tracker or discounted rate.
