Saracen Mountain Bike Reduced

Ive taken the plunge and decided to save petrol and buy a bike and ride to work. Its only 5 miles each way so shouldnt take too long.
i will use it at weekend also to get fit thats why i bought a mtb
also the bike was reduced from £219.00 to £179.00 so saved a bit there too.
Bought it here and got free delivery.

£180 here but sign up for newsletter and you get a £5 off code - so £175 delivered.
They do seem to be ordered on demand but they are a really good company to deal with.

  • Nice one, i've been riding to work for a month or so now, it's actually pretty good, and must be making me fitter. so long as it isnt chucking it down.
just a tip or two though.
it really is worth investing in some road going tyres.
get some nice narrow slick ones and pump them up good and hard.
you will tell the difference bigstyle.

    cheers

Remember that a mountain bike is twice as much work on roads or cycle tracks than a road bike or hybrid. It's a good offer but I'd suggest only suitable for those intending to use a bike off-road.

I'd recommend this one instead - great all-round machine plus all the extras you need:

    Can I help?

Nice one chaps! Cycle to work as much as you can, like I do- saves on petrol and pollution, and allows you to eat as much as you like!

I'd like to cycle to work but 20 miles (2 hours give or take) followed by 12 hours at work with the prospect of a 20 mile hike back not that appealing! (With the same again the next day)

BTW if any one knows of a bike to rival my old (96) Saracen Powertrax that is on the market today I would be interested (even in an old powertrax (not the 97 or later one) that needs some doing up.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

I use a mountain bike around town. I tried road tyres on it but they were always getting punctured - the streets of Bristol are covered in broken glass. At least with knobbly tyres I can cycle over it and not have to worry. Bristol is very hilly as well so I need my 24 gears!

Worst place for town cycling is Liverpool. Last time I was there someone pinched my wheels - while I was wating at a traffic light! lol :D
