I saw you mention selling rugs, do they give a decent price? Also have you tried Ebay?
I will be thinking of you, mine had severe laminitis and was ok over the summer on a very bare field, but winter became impossible as he would break out of the sand paddock to find food. Walking him was a nightmare, I used to get dragged through ditches/fields/hedges

Hi, just wondered what dyslexia support you have for your kids? My eldest is severely dyslexic with low reading age but very high comprehension. We are getting literacy support at school but no holistic support (he also struggles with memory and concentration). My Mum offered to pay for an independent assessment but she has since been signed off work sick so I don't like to ask.Commercial Debt £14587.22 Student Debt £7747.73

Ruby - have you tried mind mapping in colour as a way of helping them remember things and also printing things on yellow paper rather than white seems to make things easier. On the recommendation of a v. specialised SENCO we purchased a copy of ACE and have been surprised how incredibly simple it is to use. The ability to look up her own spellings in a way that makes sense to her has made a huge amount of difference. She still can't spell without it but she can at least get some help when she really hasn't got a clue. And by this I mean hasn't a clue. As an example "chimney" is found on the page with the picture of the pig (because the first vowel sound you hear is a short i) under the letter "c" section because thats the first letter in the word, in the column with 2 stars because it has 2 syllables. Sounds complete gibberish but it makes perfect sense to her, so much so we now have a copy at home and one at school. There are detailed piccies on Amazon to give you an idea what I'm on about.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Hi Ruby, I listened to school for a while regarding DS2 and then decided they didn't have a clue. I had an educational psycologist come out and asses him and that came back as not at risk of dyslexia. I am lucky in that we have a dyslexia centre, I had him asessed and didn't think he was too bad. However the results showed he was as bad as you could get. We managed to fund the first term and then applied for a bursary and were accepted. The other thing we did was took him to an optician who specialises in dyslexia (helps that optician is dyslexic). They tested him to see if overlays (coloured things to go over a page) would help. In his case they didn't but they did find that he couldn't fix his focus so reading was a struggle. He was given eye exercises to do.
With DD2 the signs were all there, she isn't as badly affected and has finished her extra tuition. However if they started to struggle I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The other problem I found is that where I live it isn't recognised as a problem (money saving tightwads) so everything had to be fought for. Feel free to pm me and good luck.
