Need something to make houmous

I'm a big fan of homemade houmous but as much as I hate to admit it this is the one thing my Kenwood Chef cannot seem to make.
Can anyone recommend something that will mash up the chickpeas for me?
I'm loathe to buy a food processor as my KC does absolutely everything else for me. I have an old model A701 so I cannot use the KC food processor attachment as it only fits the newer models.

Hi!
I make houmous and mash the chickpeas with a fork! It doesn't take long and it's not too difficult!

Whizzy stick blender? about a tenner in most supermarkets0

I use a stick blender. It's great for soups too, and you only have to wash up the stick, because you can use it in the pan.

What quantities do you make with a stick blender? I'm thinking you'd need to make it with more than 1 tin of chickpeas otherwise there wouldn't be enough stuff for the blender to do its trick...right?"Finish each day And be done with it.

I have a Bosch Mini Chopper, and it's great for chopping small-mid size batches of things like nuts, chickpeas, herbs etc and mixing salad dressings:

How do you find your Kenwood Chef for everything else? I have been wanting a a Kitchen Aid Professional (the one with the bowl lift) for years. One day it will be mine. Oh yes.0 -
I find it's no problem with just one tin, but you need to add the olive oil and maybe a bit of the tinning fluid just to make the mixture loose...0

I make hummus with a stick hand blender- no problem what so ever. Takes about 5 minutes to make.
I use the recipe
1 drained tin chick peas
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tea spoon tahini (optional)
1 tablespoon natural yogurt
2 cloves garlic, chopped finely
a few drops lemon juice
pepper and salt to taste
a few sprigs Fresh parsley if available
a chopped chili if you fancy a kick
I just bung it all in a pudding basin and whizzit up. Does about three times as much as you get in a standard supermarket serving.

1 tin is fine. I usually use a jug (or any container with a narrow base), so the ingredients come further up the sides of the container and completely submerge the blender head, IYSWIM

Hummous is even cheaper with dried beans
I soak and cook a large quantity, then freeze what I don't use, for later.
I use a Braun hand blender, and it's fab (and a bargain at that price) - I use the little pot that's in the pic to whizz chick peas. There's a thread on stick blenders here.
I'll add this to the main hummous thread later, where you'll find other tips and recipes.
