Hello some of the shares I hold with HL on their online platforms are not showing a share price / value today. Looking at financial news online there does not seem to be issues with this particular shares from the holding company. Does anyone have experience of what this problem may be? An IT glitch maybe on HL? Many thanks

Buying Stocks: Tips / thoughts? Scam / rigged game or just a VERY high risk / exclusive club?
EDIT: My mistake asking this in the wrong forum. Just boils down to a semantic error on my part; meant technical is in being technically proficient in stocks for want of a better term. I don't know. It was late! I know now the relevant forum anyway and kind thank yous to any who kindly answered me regardless. Much…

Cryptocurrencies: Your thoughts?
EDIT: The spirit of my question is basically: "Are they useful?" and "If so, which ones?" [and guessing best to try Bitcoin unless otherwise advised]. OP: With how they are known to fluctuate are they ever a safe bet? I haven't used them but one can surmise certain things with even the slightest modicum of information.…

Investing in gold, where to start?
I would like to diversify my investments to include gold, buy not sure where to start. I would like to have physical gold, but will I need to pay 20% VAT on purchases? Is the cheapest way to buy gold by buying "gold certificates" (if that is even possible), and would I avoid VAT this way? Will I have to pay VAT regardless…

Where to invest from 50
I will turn 50 this year. I don't have any savings, but have paid into work pensions all my working life and I should have paid off my credit card debt in the next year. What kind of investments are going to make me the biggest nest egg over the next 17 years. Thanks.

Making money work harder in 2022
Here for some advice. Since the pandemic, my wife's and I moved to a full Working from home model. There are no signs that this working model is about to go (employers sold off most of their offices). We decided to extend our three-bed semi to have a proper office to share. We can start building in the summer or autumn,…

Stakeholder Pensions
My policy was a Prudential Guaranteed Pension Annuity in association with the TUC. I took it out in the late 90s as it gave some provision and no contributions were possible as I was a supply teacher for a few years. There were criticisms at the time, especially by the banking unions, but I do not recall the details. I’m…

with profits polices: role of agents
I had two with profits policies which have now matured, but i’ve been subsequently worried about the role and effect of agents’ commissions on these policies. There was some mention of this issue some years ago, but i do not recall the details. What is the current state of this concern? Should i have been more concerned at…

I live with my parents who receive various benefits, can I start investing?
I'm 21, I know next to nothing about the rules regarding finances and benefits. I don't have a job, so if I start investing and making money, is that allowed? If so, what is the limit and do I have to declare anything? I don't want to get in trouble, and more importantly get my parents in trouble.

Is there such a thing as a DIY adviser?
Hi, is there such a thing as an adviser who can help with perhaps one-off advice? We only moved into DIY mid last year, having read/watched/consumed all the suggested books and videos from the forum and done lots of research, and we're happy to be DIY but I suppose just need a little reassurance that we've done / are doing…

How do you diversify?
I'm not an experienced investor but (now) understand that it's important to diversify. However I feel I'm struggling to achieve it - partly through lack of knowledge and partly through fear, which I know is counter-intuitive. I'd be interested in hearing how others do it, and any observations on my own attempts. My (our)…
