Advice on investing in Vanguard and HSBC funds
Hi. I am a first time investor and after reading on the forum plus researching around for long term investment (10+ years), I would like to put £40,000 each in HSBC Global Strategy Balanced Portfolio and Vanguard LS60 (or maybe even VLS 80). To be more cost efficient, would it be better if I invest directly with Vanguard…

Investment Trusts?
I have always only invested in shares and funds, never in Investment Trusts. Could more experienced investors give their opinion on the benefits of opening one or more, and perhaps giving their opinions on which one's are worth considering? Thanks for any/all replies.

Opinion - The High Street
Just out of curiosity really - but with some investment implications... What do people see as the future of the British High Street? It seems to be declining more and more. Empty shops etc. Will it end up converting to housing? Or something else? I've seen the High Streets in European towns thriving - so why aren't they…

Stocks and Shares ISA when Moving to Ireland.
Hi all, appreciate any help with this. I am moving to Ireland in November. I currently have money in a UK Stocks and Shares ISA. If I continue to buy shares and hopefully make gains after I move, will I be able to sell those shares and transfer the proceeds to Ireland without incurring additional tax? Thanks

Stocks and Shares beginner ISA question
I hope this isn't too silly a question, here goes; If I invest £20,000 in a stocks and shares ISA and the value of my investment plummets to say £10,000, and supposing I decided to cut my losses and sell, would I then be able to invest another £10,000 sheltered under ISA in the same tax year. Thanks

Vanguard account requires debit card
I just tried to open a Vanguard General account. It states that you can fund the account by BACS, which is what I would expect. However it then directs you to a screen to enter debit card details and doesn't provide any way to continue without it! I don't have a suitable debit card. Anyone else seen this is is it just a…

Global Small Caps proportion of equities
I have an ISA that is currently entirely invested in Vanguard LifeStrategy 60. Overall, I'm reasonably happy with its equity diversification of ca. 14% UK stocks and 46% non-UK stocks. However, I'd like to increase my exposure to global small caps which are not really represented in the LifeStrategy series. The question is…

Keeping funds as $ or transferring to £
Hi, New to forum so not sure if I'm putting this in the right place. My father recently died and was a dual national, UK/US. Most of his estate is in the US, and I have this week received 2 substantial cheques in $ which I need to deal with. Not sure if I'm better to just pay into my bank account (First Direct) or look at…

Bonds vs Equities
Ive been advised to hold a portion of my funds in bonds as a hedge on equities as their prices move in opposite directions. However what i see by intuition is that rising interest rates make both equities and bonds relatively less attractive. Rising interest rates usually denite tge end of a business cycle and a slump in…

UK Smaller Companies & Mid-Cap
I currently hold Henderson Smaller Companies (HSL) and JPMorgan Mid Cap (JMF) in my ISA portfolio. I've been very pleased with both but now I'm considering selling because of the uncertainty of a no deal on Brexit. This would surely have a bad effect on UK Smaller and Mid Cap companies? Any views appreciated please.
