Are you one of the ten millionaire families?
One in ten families are millionaires if they include assets such as their homes and their pension pots, official figures revealed yesterday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2242560/How-households-worth-1m-Property-pension-pots-push-wealth-higher.html I'm guessing everyone on this board is one of the ten. Doing well…

Halifax regular saver standing order date
I’ve set up a SO to pay in to the Halifax regular saver on the 1st of every month. Their website states payment must reach the account by the 25th of the month, then in another part I’ve read you have to make payment at the middle of the month. So I’m a bit confused. I’ve tried to call them but the recorded message said it…

Closing a deceased relative's Post Office account
Has anyone recently closed a Post Office Card Account after the death of a relative? I completed the forms and gave ID etc this afternoon, but forgot to ask how long it would take for the balance to be transferred to me. The funeral director has already been waiting weeks for payment, due to our solicitor being incredibly…

Close Brothers Platform?
Is anyone using Close Brothers please? 0.25% is the same as Cavendish so is there any compelling reason to choose one over the other? Close don't appear to let you search the funds they have available unless you're a customer.

Post Office Saver DD cancelled reason unknown
Just seen that my wife's DD from TSB didn't get taken in January. Mine did as have all the DDs for our other P.O. Saver a/cs. Annoying as she'll not get the £5 TSB reward for January. Looking at her TSB a/c shows the P.O. DD mandate missing. In her P.O. a/c the regular deposit shows "Mandate Cancelled" against the monthly…

Compound interest question ?
Hi, at some point will probably be investing 4x £10k sums into a GIA (different funds VLS & HSBC) with the long term of being in S&S ISAs. Now let's just say all funds grew at equal rates over the years... Would I gain the same from compounding interest than if I had put it all into one fund ?

Index tracker/isa...?
Hey! I'm hoping someone can help... I have a stocks and shares ISA via a certain trusted establishment, that has not only done NOTHING for me for the last 5/6 years - but the fees and other charges are extortionate, and as I've educated myself further I realise very few people beat the market so with these fees, I'm…

Where to ‘save’ £20,000
I have £20k that I need to draw on over the next two years to supplement a separate income and wonder what people think is the best place to keep it. I have a Santander 1-2-3 which offers (I think?!?) 1.5% on amounts up to £20k and and the post office 1.3% instant access account. From that, it looks like keeping it in…

Post office Bond funding?
I opened a post office bond earler and transferred money from my Santander nominated account into it. It did say something about a direct debit but I thought it would just automatically transfer . I have now checked my Santander account and no money has gone out and no money pending to go out. I have also logged into the…

Combating Inflation
I am retired and have some savings that I want to protect from inflation and perhaps earn some modest interest over and above inflation. I am not interested in large profits or significant capital growth. I have no specific plans other than a nest egg for any future financial needs and I am risk averse. I remember a time…

I opened an account on 3 January using the one offdirect debit facility to make an initial deposit of £500. By 11 January nothing had been taken so I closed the account intending to invest elsewhere.
