Trying to trace old US shares
When we moved home 15 years ago I failed to notify a change of address to the registrars for some shares in US Industries Inc, a company incorporated in Delaware. When I came across the old share certificates I tried to trace the shares without success. The company and the CUSIP number no longer exist and letters to the…

Cost of re-investing regularly in the same funds
Here’s something that I’m struggling to find the answer to. Suppose I am investing in 3 ETF’s and 2 funds, 20% of the total each. Suppose also that every month I am adding some fixed amount to my savings, say £500, and I want to put this fixed amount into those 5 investments. Does that mean I have to pay the fund dealing…

Looking at cutting platform costs and dealing fees and found x-o.co.uk Jarvis Investment. Price list says no platform fee and I cannot see any catches. Does anyone here use them? Any good or not? Thank you.

I've just sold her flat and placed the proceeds - around £90k - in our joint TSB current account. She has further investments with Aviva, Blackrock & Hendersons to the value of around £35k in the form of Unit Trusts. She…

Savings interest on larger balances?
All the MSE "top savings" accounts seem to be limited on a balance of £2,500 - £20,000. I have £200k (from an inheritance) which I expect to be investing in a house in the next few months. So property and shares are not sensible options. Is there anywhere I can put this sum to earn interest on the whole balance? My 1-2-3…

I am currently with AJ Bell and am looking to change as my fund is about to get a whole lot larger - some ISA & some not. Advice for first purchase of shares
Hi guys! Potentially a silly question here, but I'm going to to go ahead and ask it anyway! I keep an eye on a particular companies share price almost daily, on Friday evening I noticed they were low and my gut instinct is to buy them now (8am tomorrow). I've never purchased shares before, so was wondering if I should buy…

BT share price woes
I have a quantity of BT shares and since they peaked at about 496p in March this year, they have continued to head south. When they recently fell to 372p (a 25% fall on the 496p figure) I sold half my holding. With Friday’s closing share price of 367p, I’m thinking of selling the lot to halt further losses. Curious as to…

Paying off someone else's mortgage
Hi all, I have savings and am thinking of paying off my dad's mortgage; he's a single man and has worked so hard. I don't think he has a great amount left to pay, he's been in the house ten years now but has told me that he won't be able to afford to retire before he is 70 (he has no pension) and is currently just over 60…
