Bestinvest account transfer fees (SIPP)
I am trying to understand the total cost involved in transferring a Bestinvest SIPP account out to another UK SIPP provider. I know there may fees from the provider accepting the transfer, those are generally less difficult to calculate as they're either a flat fee or free. On page 6, under section "TRANSFER AND ACCOUNT…

Scotish Friendly £94.50 TCB for £90 invested into "My UK Tracker Options" ISA ...
...for 5 years? Is my understanding correct that…

Dividend Reinvestment charge
Hi I just found out that when reinvesting your dividend in your Halifax ISA Stock and Share account, the Halifax charges you for commission and stamp duty which is really annoying. It makes sense why my cost of share rises everytime I reinvest my dividend. Is there anyway to avoid being charged when reinvesting my…

Close Nationwide FlexDirect
I have a Nationwide FlexDirect account, which I opened on 04/11/2014. I earned 5% interest between 04/11/2014 and 04/11/2015. Now I earn 1%. On 04/11/2015 I transferred the balance to my Santander 123 account (which earns 3% interest). They tell me I have to wait another year for the interest to increase from 1% to 5%…

Friendly Societies
There seem to be a number of these offering tax exempt savings plans, investment bonds, and regular savers. Does anyone have any experience of these? Are they worth a look? I notice a few of them offer dental and optical healthcare grants too. There doesn't seem to be much on this website about them, so thought I'd ask via…

Pros and cons of buying lifestrategy funds directly from Vanguard UK
I'm thinking about investing a large sum - in excess of £100,000 - in a Vanguard lifestrategy fund and leaving it there for 10 years or so. I understand that as UK resident I can buy directly from Vanguard when investing over £100,000 without the need for using a platform with its associated expenses. But I remember…

Post-RDR funds and differing "levels" of cleanliness
Regarding apparent differing "levels" of fund cleanliness post RDR, mentioned in this thread comment... I hold the HSBC FTSE all-share tracker fund on two different platforms. One platform converted my Retail Class units to Class C units automatically, for free, and seamlessly over a year ago. The other, however,…

I tried speaking to the bank and call me thick but I don't understand that the money is not safe, can someone please explain in idiot language what this means.

Investment Funds & tax (outside ISA)
Hi, My understanding is that as a basic rate taxpayer I don't benefit from having shares in an ISA instead of having them outside an ISA, apart from protection from CGT. However with corporate bonds I do benefit from having them in an ISA as I avoid income tax on them. So it would seem logical to me that if I can't have…

Can you be mis sold an ISA.
Not sure if this is in the right place. About 15 years ago ( not too sure about the date) OH and I took out an ISA , we put in £3000 and paid in £100 a month on top of that. It was around the times when a lot of products were "going bad" . After around 6 months into it we discovered that the product we had was worth less…
