ready made 2012-2013 s/s isa
I have £5640 to put into a s/s isa this year using one of the ready made isa plans (possibly share centre) as I dont have enough knowledge or confidence to choose individual funds,I know its better for costs to choose yourself but I feel I am not ready to go down that route just yet. Any recommendations ? And will I have…

Coventry Online saver Issue 4
Whats the maximum daily withdrawal allowed on this account. I see reference to £5000 for online accounts mentioned on their web site. I assume if you closed the account by phone you could just transfer the whole amount. Just checking because of the 4 penalty free rule on this account.

Effect of fees on fund performance
Just trying to fully understand the effect of fees on yield. Hypothetical situation: I have a wad of cash to invest and am looking for income rather than long term growth. I go see an IFA, he recommends sticking it in xxx high yield fund which is yielding 6%. The fund is quoted as having a 5% initial fee and a 1.5% on…

Dividends from US companies
Newbie questions: I note that many NYSE traded stocks have high dividend yields. Is it possible to invest in these companies directly from the UK or is this best achieved with a US focused Income fund? What are the tax implications if it's possible to invest directly? Is there an online tool/site that allows easy analysis…

Equity explained simply
Hi, Could I ask someone to take the time to provide an explanation of the UK Equity Stock and Shares Market? I.e what are the main reasons the share price fluctuates? If I were to invest in it- where would the extra capital actually come from (of course assuming that I make a positive return). Thanks in advance, Alex

Best Account to Save US Dollars & to Use on Holiday
G'day, for some years I've had a US$ account with Yorkshire Bank, it earns a few dollars a year interest - literally a few, perhaps about $10 - $20 a year. It costs me if I put cash or cheques in, it costs me to take money out, it costs me to have a cheque book and again it costs to actually use a cheque. Having said that,…

junior/adult cash isa
16 and 17-year-olds currently get two ISA allowances - £3,600 on a Junior ISA and £5,640 on an adult cash ISA! That's because they're also allowed to open an adult isa from the age of 16 too. So under the current rules they could squirrel up to £9,240 in ISAs for the 2012-13 tax year! :j

How safe are deposits with Lloyds TSB International?
i've been thinking about opening an account, and being offshore in nature the disclaimer is that they are obviously not regulated by the FSA or subject to the Financial Services and Markets Act. But what concerns me is deposit protection arrangements. It is stated that the parent group (Lloyds TSB) does not guarantee the…

Hargreaves Lansdown - I should do what?
You have to laugh. I recently received a letter from HL in the post and an email today about my investment account (which is neither an ISA or a sipp). In this account I hold a few venture capital trust shares. HL were telling me what a great idea it would be to put them into an ISA with HL as the dividends would be tax…

Trust Fund setup for me in 1970
Hi all. I'm unsure which forum to ask this so I am hoping this one is ok. I was born in 1970 and fostered at 6 weeks old. I never knew my father but have been told that he apparently set up some form of trust fund for me at the time. I don't know his name or anything about him and am wondering if there is a way to discover…

TL;DR Considering transferring out of Interactive Investor as they make it difficult to avoid paying the 30% US withholding tax. Investment fund holdings
Are there any websites that track the movements of the individual shares that make up a fund? Or track what a fund is buying and selling? I've only really found the Top 10 holdings on fact sheets, and depending on the fund these could make up less than a quarter of its full holdings. Just want to see what we're paying fund…
