Child Savings
Hello! Myself and my partner are expecting our first child in January 2010, and I am currently researching what savings/investments we could pursue in order to ensure our child gets a good start in life. Barclays refuse instant access to savings
I'm fuming. I had a Barclays regular savings account that matured in October to a "more for more" savings account paying a lousy rate of interest. I also have an e-savings reward account with them that I have never used. I thought I would use the last day of the Xmas break (BH Mon 28/12) to sort out my savings, and tried…

savings account for elderly mum
Phew..! didn't think I'd be seeking help here but I've searched the 'usual sites' (Moneyfacts/supermarket etc) but getting the right search filters is hard: I've discovered my mum (mid 80s) is regularly keeping 1000s (at present 12K) in her c/a, and has no savings account. So she needs a saver where she can have access,…

Maximising interest - Cash ISA or Regular Savings account?
I've noticed that ISA providers are offering extremely low rates of interest at the moment. I have £8,000 to invest - would I be better off drip-feeding this into the most preferable Regular Savings account than setting up an ISA? I realise this applies to only the first £3,600 of the £8,000. The rest I would put elsewhere…
