Barclays Rates Drop Today
I have an ISA account with Barclays (£3700) which from today is earning only 4.08% p.a or 4.16% AER . I may as well put it in my Halifax Guaranteed Saver Account for 6% even if I will pay 20% tax. It still works out at a higher rate at 4.8% after tax.
All YBS accounts down effective 30/11/08
All YBS accounts down effective 30/11/08 & a few down effective 1/12/08 Their Internet Saver down 1% to 4.50% AER, 4.41% gross for monthly interest. Their e-ISA down to 4.15% for £20,000+, 4.05% for £10,000+, 3.95% for £10+
Abbey and BM esaver rates down
Abbey and BM rates now down e.g Abbey Direct ISA 4.0% , Birmingham midshire esaver AER 4.42%
Barclays Tax Haven ISA interest rate drop
This variable rate has now dropped to 4.16% AER from 5.72% (and down from 6.25% I believe it was when I opened it!) Wonder what it will be at this time next week!
Low interest rates
Been away and busy lately. Browsing through and the rates have all plunged, seems like i have missed out some deals. I think there may be more drops to come, sadly! Anyone disagrees?
Yorkshire BS eBond - to open or not?
I've moved money around so much these last few weeks, I've reached the 'Is it worth it?' stage. London Scottish bank folds - FSCS covers over £50k
London Scottish Bank has gone into administration - story here Interestingly the FSCS has said the government will "top up" full cover for those with more than £50k of savings, which seems to be normal behaviour now, at least for UK banks. EDIT: Oops - just noticed the news had been mentioned already half way down this…
