Dollars or Euro?
Hiya. I’m looking for advice on what to do with my English pounds. I can’t take advantage of changing banks to get a better interest rate as I’m an expat. I also believe it’s on the cards that the UK will join the Euro. So do I change my Pounds for Dollars or Euro while I can still get some kind of an exchange rate. Thanks…

From being massively overdrawn to being quite well off - what now?
This might seem a bit of a strange post but following a separation I have just received my portion of a house for £35,000 meaning that I've now gone from being regularly in my £4,000 limit overdraft to being well in the black. Having never had more than about £2,000 in my account since before I went to university I'm…

Anglo Irish fixed rates down
A lot of negative threads about the Anglo Irish bank so this may not effect anybody on here :-) They were paying 5.75% AER on 1 year fixed and 4.60% AER on a 2 year fixed - rates are now 5.00% & 4.20% respectively. I posted my application off on Saturday with a note stapled to the application itself asking for a courtesy…

Zopa in the current climate
I was wondering what people's thoughts are on Zopa. I have looked into it in the past, and think it is a very interesting concept, but have opted not to put in money because returns were similar to (if not below) top paying savings accounts. Following recent rate cuts this is no longer the case, which makes me wonder…

Ok well I've just read the banking saving section and I'm still not really got a clue. I've got a flex account with Nationwide and they want to see me tomorrow with a view of putting it into one of their bonds for 6 months or so but it'll only give me about 1800 quid over that period is that good? I really don't know where…

Abbey - Santander untrustworthy!
I have a bank account with them that offered 8%AER for balance up to £2,500 fixed for 12 month if I put £1,000 in every month. I always fill in up to the maximum every month. That should work out about £14 net interest monthly. However, for the second time, they only paid 16 pence instead. Beware the…

How does Nationwide calculate interest?
Hello, I've been wondering how Nationwide calculates interest, as my calculation for what I expected is a little different from theirs (only by 6 pence, so I'm not saying I'm going to run in there and demand my 6p back, I'm just interested as to why I am wrong!) These are the details of the account I have: Interest last…
