Timing of when to open a Regular Saver
What day of the month is it best to open a Regular Saver? I'm thinking it might be best to open them at the end of a month, then get subsequent payments in as early as possible. e.g. payment 1 - 31st March 2008 payment 2 - 1st April payment 3 - 1st May ... payment 12 - 1st Feb 2009 account matures 30th March 2009 if the…

West Brom Direct Reg.Saver - anybody else had this??
I've had a W.Brom Direct Reg.Saver a/c for 8 or 9 years, paying a reasonably small amount into it each month by S/Order. (I only really wanted it in order to have an a/c with W.Brom). I switched my bank from Abbey to Coventry1st nearly a year ago & the S/Os have been perfectly OK each month since then - until now! I…

Are your savings safe?
Hi, I was wondering if by putting £35K in Landsbanki (Icesave) and £35K in Kaupthing Edge is safe. Since they are 2 different Icelandic banks, I wasn't sure if they both share the same protection and if so whether it would be wise to put £35K split in both? Per the link below both of these aren't highlighted in the same…

Global Shares
I probably know the answer to my question - "Is Global Shares' recent offer a bit of a scam ?" - in that anyone who suggests that they have a software programme that can sift through the FTSE and give the you the likely winners and who wants to share this information with you at considerable cost is actually in the…

Bradford & Bingley My Time postal saver Qu
Hi guys, looking to open this account, it seems to have a competative rate, but was wondering if the 6.0% is fixed, and for how long. Similar accounts from other providers are guaranteed to exceed the Base Rate for about a year, is this the case with this one?

Tax Certificates - Saving Accounts
Last May I inherited a significant sum of money. Not enough for the interest to bring me into the higher rate tax band on income but I am wondering whether HMRC are likely to start to take an interest in me (for some years now I have not been asked for tax returns)? Being rather cautious I have invested a large chunk of…

ING 6 month bond 6.4% - safe?
I have just read online that ING have a 6 month bond for 6.4% if you invest 25K and at 6% if you invest 10K. I have read on the Daily Mail financial website that ING is only guaranteed for up to 15K under the European and not UK financial compensation scheme so is it a risk to put more than 15K into ING Direct?

Should you give Bank Details Online?
