Lloyds TSB - very disappointed
I have just taken over control of my mother's Premier account with Lloyds as I have Enduring Power of Attorney. I went in to the bank to get internet access and the Manager told me I should upgrade her Premier Account to the Premier Plus so I can get up to 4.25% AER for up to £5,000 and there is usually that sort of amount…
How to get the best returns for my savings?
I am trying to save c. £1000 a month at the moment and have just been told that my parents are giving me £1000 each tax year to invest on top of this. I currently have about £9000 already saved up. £3000 is in an ISA for 2006 tax year. Nearly £3000 is in a high interest monthly savings account (£250 pm up to a max of £3000…
The virtues of trackers
I must say I find myself very confused when I read articles like the attached and then find other commentators singing the praises of managed funds. http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/09032007/35/become-great-investor.html What do others think?
LLoyd TSB 8% regular saver - urgent news
If you were planning to open this account - do it fast before Monday. I was just doing mine anyway and the lady told me I was lucky to be just in time, because on Monday the guaranteed 8% rate was changing from two years to one only. Check this info out yourself though - I was only told by this one person.
Is this a new Share Scam
I have recently been approached by an american broker wanting to buy some shares I have on behalf of a client of theirs, they are offering way over the market value of the shares AND also asking for a bond upfront before they'll release the money.............I'm suspicious, is it normal practise to ask for a bond…
What kind of investment would yield £20k p.a.?
Hello My siblings and I inherited what I would consider a large sum of money and would like to invest it such that it yields us an annual income of £20,000. Before we speak to a broker (we need to determine a good broker to begin with) we want to educate ourselves on what is out there. Off the top of your head, what kinds…
Savings Advice
Hi I have £6500 in a mini cash isa with Smile taken out in 2001. Plus I have £3300 in a regular savings account with HSBC. In addition I have made £1700 over payments with my mortgage over the last 8 months. I would like to retain access to the £6500 for emergencies. But would like to invest the £3300 in an investment…
Interactive Investor Funds ISA problems
I've been using Interative Investor's Funds ISA web site for a while but since they moved to a Halifax hosted service things just keep going wrong... latest issue is that buying and selling funds does not work. Having spoken to their customer support they say this only affects some funds (it's affected all I've tried to…
Savings tax affecting income tax - help?
We are very fortunately recieving £100,000 to invest and have the interest. My earnings are around the level where the potential interest might well bump me into the 40% income tax bracket. I've checked the government site, but it is worded oddly and I can't understand it. If the interest is taxed at source at 20%, and…
Wise
I have searched the forums but cannot find anything relating to this scheme. About two months ago a woman in work was leaving early to attend her WISE meeting. Innocently asking what WISE was about she enthuastically told me that by investing cash you would receive a return more than 10 times that invested. She had…
