Be gentle....this is my first post :o I would like to transfer my Cash ISA to one with a better rate of interest. However, I have already put the maximum into my maxi ISA for this year. Every cash ISA I've come across which accepts transfers seems to always request that I open an account with a deposit, may be £1 and then…

Savings accounts and credit checks
Hi, can anyone tell me if opening a savings account (cahoot for reference) involves a credit check? I have no problem with the credit score itself, but I've applied for a shared ownership mortgage recently and have all and sundry do credit searches on me, so my credit report has taken a bit of a beating the last 3 months,…

Where best to post this?
I have £60,000 that I need to save. I may need to use it all in the next few months or not for a few years. I cannot afford to lose any of it so investing may not be an option. ING 5.1% fixed 6-month for existing customers (merged)
No details on website but email received today (so presumably others account holders will know about this). As this is fixed 6-month term, no withdrawals allowed without closing account, which incurrs 90-days loss of interest. Can deposit £1-£499,999 but strangely only £49,999 in any one account, so for savers with over…

AER vs Gross

Best children's savings account
Hi all We save around £50 per month for our three year old daughter, with the Britannia BS. When we found out about the Halifax regular saver last year we put our £50 and took £50 from her savings and put £100 per month in to the 10% AER/gross p.a account - she got £60 interest. I was thinking of doing the same this year…
