Dogs and guinea pigs
I have three large C&C cages for my guinea pigs on the floor, who have their own bedroom, and a dog who is very good with them (ie. sniffs them once and ignores them). The door to their room is pulled closed as much as it can be, but can't be locked or bolted as it's broken and the LL won't fix it. The dog's too small to…

Operation Dilemma :-(
Hi All My cat (Joey) was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid late last year. He is about 14 years old and I understand this condition is very common in older cats. He was prescribed tablets but the vet advised an operation to remove his thyroid gland (or at least one of them). He was booked in for the op but I cancelled…

Which Pet Insurance for three cats ?
Hi I've got 3 cats and to date I've had pet insurance for them through Halifax. They are 4 year old moggies with no ongoing health issues. I've just had the renewal notices through for them and its gone up to £10.17 per month for each of them ! So just over £120 per year each. Obviously I won't be renewing the policy and…

Massive premium difference between London and country
I only just noticed how large the difference in premiums for pet insurance are between London and the country. Premium for here in N1: £434. Premium for possible future area: £165! When/if I move to the country, will the insurance company reduce our premium at the next renewal date? This is with lifetime cover.

Dog training toys/mental stimulation
I am not sure what the actual name of these toys are but I bought one for my dog a while back. It is a wooden toy and you can put treats in it and my dog has to slide pieces of wood around to get to the treats. I am sure that is clear as mud :rotfl:. I bought it in pets at home but can't find it on their website. Anyway I…

Yearly Booster Vaccination for Cat
Our cat Oscar, and this is he ... ... was born feral in our local woods about 4 years ago. He initially decided to move himself in with a neighbour, but when she had to move last year she asked if we'd take him on, which we were happy to do. A quick check revealed that although she'd had him chipped and snipped, she had…

Canine Hip Dysplasia - urgent advice needed
I have a six month pup who went from being an active run across the field sort of dog to a hobble on his back legs dog in the space of a few days (after a fall). He's been x-rayed and I've been told he has hip dysplasia in both hips. My question is, does hip dysplasia come on almost over night? (I've been googling, and…

My mum lives in a small village outside Aberdeen, there is a cat called Jemima that's always around, it *did* belong to a family further down the street but the girl didn't want it anymore and *gave* it to the two druggies in the bungalow.
