New State Pension
Hi. I am due to receive my State Pension in a couple of months, and I was told it would be paid to me every 4 weeks (13 times a year) IN ARREARS! I phoned the Department of Pensions up and asked if it would be possible to receive it weekly instead, and they said that would be fine. IT'S NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU CAN DO…

From Standard Life workplace pension to Charles Stanley SIPP?
Hi, I am considering to transfer my workplace pension of £55,000 from Standard Life to a new SIPP provider. My employer is making monthly payments to Standard Life on my behalf so I will have to inform them to start making payment to my new SIPP once the transfer has completed. But now the question is what SIPP provider is…

TFLS and recycling query.
I’m hoping to retire at the end of June this year with a CETV transfer in to drawdown, by then I will have earned circa £16K taxed at 40% with no pension (personal or company) contributions. For the rest of 2018/19 I would have no more earnings, I would be taking a TFLS (maybe not the full 25% in the first year) so I would…

DB contributons and SIPP contributions calculation
Hi I read a little while ago, but now can't find the thread, that if you contribute a percentage of your salary to a public sector pension scheme then starting a SIPP isn't quite straight forward as there is a calculation to be made to estimate what level of contributions you can make. Me- NHS DB (1995) Scheme, pay 35.5k…

Capita Pensions Administration woes
As a retired utilities employee, my employers pension and my in work salary was administered by Capita (Hartshead). Generally, their record has been quite good, until this year at least. The March payment advice slip is the most important of the whole year as it contains the P60 tax information required by HMRC. Capita…

S&S ISA > Pension?
I invest in both a pension with work, and also a S&S ISA every month. Just curious, does anyone invest in their ISA more than their pension? I guess the benefits with the pension is that its locked away, and the government add a bit (yet they tax you on the other side after the first 25%). :( As a 33 year old, conscious of…

Pension and Redundancy
HI I may be being made redundant and I am over 55. I am receiving conflicting advice. I have been told by some people that I can ask my employer to pay some of my redundancy into my pension to get to my pension allowance limit for the last 3 years, the salary is a final salary one. This will reduce the tax I have to pay on…

A relative has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, his only source of income is his pension, an annuity. Given that this probably dies with him, is there any need to inform them at this stage?

I have just turned 50 and I am in a defined benefit pension with 31 years contributions. 27, never contributed to a pension, absolutely clueless (possible police pension)
Hello all you great people. I'll be upfront about it, I know (roughly) a bit about pensions, but I have no idea how to make them work the best way for myself. I've worked in a call centre for 4 months in 2017, and that's the only time I've paid in some NI contributions. At the time mandatory pension didn't exist, so my…
