Tricked? into Fixed Rate 2 year deal
Quick one: I re-mortgaged 4 months ago to capitalise on a 2 year fixed rate deal. At the time I also wanted to borrow extra for home improvements. Not needing the extension finance yet as, I had to align the builders, I was advised to take a home owner loan on top of my mortgage, in 3 months time. Preliminary acceptance…

Secured loan or credit card? Which one should I do?
Husband and I need to borrow about £20k to do some building works on our home. We will be able to pay it off completely within a couple of years but need to borrow it upfront to do the works (as it will be the upcoming sale(=equity) of the house that clears the debt). Should we take out a secured loan (we already have a…

Fuming with countrywide mortgage adviser
We made an offer on a house via an estate agent who told me that in order to accept our offer, we'd have to be "offer checked" by their in house mortgage adviser. I had already got 2 AIP's from two separate providers and felt confident that would be ok, but apparently not. Anyway, the next bit is my fault as rather than…

Mortgage broker query
A relative has gone to a mortgage broker and following the advice on this forum went to one who claims to scan the whole market. After a lengthy "fact find" and a few days delay she has received details about just one mortgage from one company. She expected, as did I, that she would receive details of perhaps 4 or 5…

Buy to Let options
We currently own two properties with no mortgages, one of which we are letting, and we would like to buy another property to let. Mortgage Application with Virgin Money
My current mortgage offer expired in July, at which point I was put onto my providers SVR. A few weeks prior to this I had started an application through a broker with Virgin Money offering 1.39% which was a good rate as it would knock 6 years off my mortgage theoretically. (of course this isn't necessarily realized if my…
