Redeeming mortgage after seven months - will my broker lose his commission?
Question for the brokers. We applied to Santander through a broker and got our mortgage in Feb. We're now remortgaging to HSBC. When the remortgage completes, we'll have only had the Santander mortgage for seven months. I know the broker got a chunk of cash from Santander, on top of what we paid. Would his money from them…

Someone to share the worry!
Hi everyone. I've posted once before about our situation (first time buyers) but I've been a long time reader. I'm off to Natwest tomorrow to see what they'll offer us but I'm quaking in my metaphorical boots. I now understand why buying a house is considered one of the most stressful things you'll ever do. I'm sure…

Re mortgage to release equity to buy another property
My partner currently owns his home. Value £130 - £135k. Outstanding mortgage £89k. We want to keep the property and rent it out and buy another property at a value of £250k. Our idea is to re mortgage the property to release £25k of the equity to use as a 10% deposit on the new property. We would therefore need to re…

Consent to Let Fee (St James' Place Bank)
I have a mortgage with St James' Place Bank, and as I now rent out the property, they impose a consent to let fee of over £700 every six months. This seems unreasonable to me, and I'd like to ask them to waive it in the future and even refund the fee already paid. Does anyone have any experience of similar? Thanks.

Impending redundancy - can I get a mortgage?
I am expecting to be made redundant at some point in 2016. I am not officially 'displaced' yet, and there's no agreed date that this will happen (in fact, I strongly suspect it might slip to 2017). But the fact of being made redundant is pretty concrete. I'm confident myself that this won't affect my ability to repay the…
