Mortgage tie in
I am due to finish my 5.69% rate with Northern Rock at the end of the year. I received a letter when the company had been bailed out, to tell me that they would not be looking to offer me anything new. I have never missed a payment on my mortgage and I have been with them for a long time. What is really getting my goat is…

what type of mortgage next?
We will need to remortgage later this year so we are now starting to consider what type of mortgage to go for. For the last 8 years we have had fixed rate repayment mortgages but have recently felt restricted by the fact we can only over pay 10% of the balance per year. We are fortunate to have savings and a relatively low…

Hi I am after some thoughts on our situation - Currently on halifax "flexible" variable mortgage currently at 3.25% when we took this product almost 3 years ago was 6.4% so we have obviously gained from the rate drop. First time buyer going literally insane
Hello! I'm trying to get on to the property ladder for the first time. I'm 33, and a civil servant, and I'm single. Despite Osborne wielding the axe, I've been in a new unit for the 12 months, and they are deemed to a priority, hence my position would seem to be secure. Obviously, I want a place of my own, and this is…

Changing Payment Date
I phoned my Mortgage lender (HSBC) today to change the date of my direct debit from 1st to 15th of each month to try and even out my payments as I get paid weekly. The assistant on the phone said there would be a slight additional charge next month to cover the interest for the period from 1st to 15th. Fair enough I…

To fix or not to fix?
I am about to come off a 5.69% 3 year deal I took out back in March 2008. Santander have now offered me a 2 year fixed rate of 4.79% and thats it. I think that is a poor offer so I was thinking of just sticking on the SVR at 4.24% and see what happens throughout the year. Do you think these SVR's are likley to budge in the…
