Hi, I have 3 mortgages running along side each other for the same house from the same lender and one of them has finished its tie in period, so today I tried to set up a new deal on a lower interest rate which I could but after the product fee was taken into account the monthly payments were higher!!! So the question…

Multiple Halifax credit card offers!
Last week when I logged onto my Halifax bank account they offered me a clarity card - guaranteed. I applied as I thought it might be useful as I do travel abroad a lot. They approved my application stating that I would get a credit limit of around £7000. Today I logged onto my account and there was another 'guaranteed'…

Santander overpayments
Hi, I've got a fixed rate interest only mortgage with Santander. I tried to arrange regular monthly overpayments as part of the same direct debit as the interest payment but was told by Santander that this is not allowed! Is this right? My experience with previous mortgages has been that this is acceptable.

Survey Question?
Hi all The property I am buying was built in 1907. I've been checking it carefully for damp, cracks, etc but obviously I'm not a surveyor. Had some quotes from surveyors who say because of the age of the property I have to do a full building survey for about £550 but once you add this to the bank valuation and solicitor…

Endowment advice please
I stupidly took out an endowment when I bought my first home in 1999. I no longer own this home and therefore don't need the money to pay off the mortgage which was £60,000. I have still been paying the £94 a month as saw it as an investment and knew if I cashed in too early I wouldn't get too much back. I recently rang…

Deposit Question?
Hi all. My dad is giving me the money for a deposit on a property that has just had an offer accepted. (FTB) He needs to give his bank 60 days notice to draw the money out which is plenty of time and neither of us or vendor are in a rush to move but I wondered what proof the bank would require? The deposit is effectively…

What could the repercussions be?
I'd appreciate any alternative solutions to my predicament - but as it stands I feel I am only left with one option... Mortgage Advisors - help!
We're looking to move home and hoping to arrange a new mortgage. I've read Martin's advice on mortgage advisors but it's all a little confusing (my husband dealt with this last time but I don't think he got a good deal, so I'm taking over!). Am I right in thinking 'whole of the market' ones are best? Upon some research of…

Solicitor's and Deeds
Do solicitors sell flats without checking Deeds in Scotland? It sounds daft and surely the answer is No, but since moving in with partner and taking on his difficulties with upstairs neighbours I thought I'd check out the Deeds. Upstairs bought soon after conversion of roof space four years ago. I have purchased copy of…

Have been lurking for ages, but not seen anyone with a similar problem to myself, so here goes.... Northern Bank 100% Mortgage and will a poor credit score affect it
Hello; I spoke with Northern Bank today who say they have 100% mortgages available for first time buyers (I was planning to give a 10% deposit). This surprised me, do 100% mortgages still exist? My main question though is my credit score, it's dropped into the poor catergory recently, due to its size and the number of…
