Ge money
Hello all, Does anyone know if GE are being tight letting someone switch to interest only while times are hard. My mate has a letter saying they won't consider it due to equity (75% LTV) and therefore 'sale of property' not being an adequate repayment vehicle. Her fixed rate is up in March and she will be changing back to…

Extortionate Mortgage Fees?
Hi all, we remortgaged September/October last year as banks went into freefall. Whilst we were looking for products and rejected some, all of a sudden ALL fixed rate mortgages seem to come with a £2,000 charge :eek:as well as the setup fee? Or at least that's what our IFA told us. Does any one know of a past mortgage…

Fixed or Variable
To Fix or Not to Fix that is the question. My mortgage deal ends on 31 Aug (BoE Base Rate+.49% Tracker £419/mth :D ), I have the option to go to the SVR of 4% (£557/mth) or fix for 5 years at 5.29% (£618/mth). Part of me says take the fixed rate, part of me says don't and drop onto the SVR. Anyone any thoughts?

Our income easily covered the loan. Earlier this year I was made redundant, 5 days before taking maternity leave. The same week, my husband took a full time…

Natwest SVR
Hi all, just looking through my mortgage papers, and my fixed rate runs out in march next year. I'm currently on 5.29%, which i thought reverted up to 7.29% at the end of the deal, but it turns out that was just an estimate at the time and the mortgage actually reverts to the the standard variable rate. However, hunting…

Removing name from mortgage
Hi, I wondered if anyone could give my husband and I some advice... About 4 years ago my husband and his Dad decided to take a £50000 mortgage on a house which my father in law owned outright. This was then given to him as payment from my husband for half of the house (this was pre meeting me!). About 2yrs later they…

2 years until I have to re-mortgage
I'm just over 3 years into a 5 year fixed northern rock mortgage. The loan is about £105k @ 4.89%. Monthly repayment is £644 with about 22 years left. My income is about £17500 plus around another £500-1000 in bonuses/overtime. This works out about £1150-1200 a month net. I initially got the mortgage through a broker and I…

Underwriters query
Hiya, we have applied for a mortage (75% LTV) via HSBC. The underwriters have called back us to show proofs of deposit as we hold only 20% of the deposit amount in the HSBC account. The rest are held in other banks. And one of the other account has a recent credit (about 20% of deposit). Its from a relative returning back…

Should I take out loan to get achieve higher LTV?
Dear all, We are considering to take out a loan for around 14k to achieve a 75% LTV on a new built flat in order to be eligible for a 3.05% Tracker deal instead of a 6.84% 2 year fix. We expect to pay back the loan within 6-9 months. Is this a feasable strategy? Thank you all in advance for your help. LeserattePD

80% LTV mortgage on a new build flat?
Hello everyone, We (2 cohabiting professionals/graduates with clean credit records and no debts) are looking for a 80% LTV mortgage for a new build flat. We'd be borrowing 2.8x our combined income. The best rate an independent mortgage adviser could offer was 6.84% 2 year fix from the Halifax. We'd really prefer a tracker…

Is it possible to mortgage a house owned outright?
Hi, Is it possible to get a mortgage on a house which I own outright? I'm looking to upgrade, but would prefer not to sell the current property just yet. I've looked on various price comparison websites but none of them seem to make it clear - I'm not looking for a remortgage, I'm not looking for a buy-to-let mortgage…

How do Nationwide estimate property value for remortgage?
As it says in the title really! Their quick calculator online suggests my property might be worth more than I believe it actually is at the moment. Our mortgage has been with them for the last 6 years or more - would they use their quick calculator or have someone come and look at the house? Thanks for any info.
