Hi I have written to our building soc (Nationwide), as our new monthly payment at 4.69% is less than when we had a fixed at 4.39%, so alarm bells started ringing. We took out a loan in 2003 over 15 years, for 84000. It was a split loan of 19000 on repayment and 65000 on interest only. In 2006, i made monthly overpayments…

Watch out with Lloyds
Just wanted to highlight my recent experience with Lloyds mortgages. We got a decision in principle on a maximum 80% LTV tracker +0.79% mortgage. This was subject to valuation. Our application calculated our LTV around 72%, and we were confident that we would be still within the max 80% even if the valuation was shocking.…

Northern Rock: 1.5% cut but charged pre cut SVR!!
I was on a 2 year fixed rate with Northern Rock that ended on the 1st of November 2008 followed by their SVR of approximately 7.5 %. As there was no better alternative available at the time I decided to stick with the SVR until I find something better. The BOE base rate was then cut and NR advised on 07.11.08 that they…

Porting a mortgage to a new house
Hoping some of the experts out there know the answers to a few questions I have.... We are mulling over the idea of trying to move house. We have a tracker mortgage with Abbey which has a rate we'd be idiots to let go (nevermind the early repayment charges), so we'd be looking to move that over to the new house. We…
