Confused about mortgage rate with Northern Rock!
Hi I'll try not to go on too much with this post! Basically I took out a 100% mortgage with Northern Rock in October 2007, and also borrowed an extra £21,000 from them as an unsecured loan. This was on their Together Variable offer and is a repayment mortgage. I was expecting my monthly payment to go down quite…

Advice???
This is probably a stupid question- if so please dont shoot me down! OH has a interest only 100%mortgage of £56k with C&G which was fixed for 3year which ended a few months ago and he is now on interest only variable rate. How difficult would it be to swap to a repayment mortgage still with C&G? Thanks:o

buy to let morgage

We have been offered an interest only 6.34% fixed for 5 yrs from my HSBC bank. But they would require a repayment vehicle. Skipton has approved an interest only at around 6.5%…

Mortgage Advice Please
Hi, I am starting this thread on behalf on my (technophobe) brother. I know nothing about mortgages, but thought I'd try to help him by posting here. He has a mortgage that he suspects is costing him far more than it should, and so with the following information I hope someone can point me in the right direction to assist…

Nottingham Bldg Soc poor SVR
Hi I have a mortgage with the Nottingham Building Society. When the Bank of England cut the rates by 0.5%, the Nottingham made no adjustment and kept their SVFR at 7.24%. When the Bank Of England cut the rate by a further 1.5% recently, the Nottingham have only just reduced their SVR........to 6.49%. Does this seem fair,…

I just don't really know what to do! I'm a teacher on just over 24K and my mortgage is for £84 K. I'm hoping its not all bad news but I'm not…

2 yr deal oming to and end soon!
We've been in quite a good position being on a Base rate tracker with Britannia so currently rate of 3%. But like all good things, this come to an end in March 09. Anyone have any news on good tracker deals, we have about 42% equity so should be open to pretty much anything. I will start a proper look soon but wondered if…

Took 100% Mortgage out - what about remortgage
Needing some advice. Just watched the pre budget report. I am in a right panic about everything. We bought our first property this year February to be exact. We were given a 100% interest only mortgage due to me being a teacher. Went with the Bristol and West professional mortgage. We live in West London and have a 1 bed…

Any advice on The One Account Mortgage
Hi I have a One Account mortgage with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Of the 3 interest rates cuts the bank of England have made recently amounting to 2.5%, the RBS have only passed on 0.5% to me. My mortgage is a variable rate but cleverly the terms and conditions dont say anything about them passing the reduction of…

Is is possible to pay a lump sum off my mortgage?
The answer to my question may be obvious, in which case please forgive me... I currently have a 2 year fixed rate interest only mortgage with Alliance & Leicester. At the end of this I plan to move onto a repayment mortgage but it looks like I'll have a lump sum of £15-20k saved up which I want to pay off some of the…

Fixed rate mortgage started last June
Hi We took out a FR mortgage last June with Abbey for 3 years at 6.09%. Obviously the rate has now dropped (SVR with Abbey is currently 5.44%). I just wondered if it is worth paying the fees to get out of it? I'm not sure what the fees would be exactly, but wondered whether anyone had any experience of this. Thanks Donna

Mortgage with C&G - seem to have forgotten about fees!
We took out a mortgage with C&G last May. There were fees of 2.5% on a mortgage of £127,075 (ouch, i know) which we opted to add to the mortgage. On all the statements, I have just realised that the balance does not seem to include the fees at all, and the mortgage payment equals 5.14% times the balance, so we are not even…

mortgage & multiple direct debit payments
I have a joint mortgage with my ex fiance. I have been putting my half of the mortgage payment in our account but he is failing to do so. I am obviously concerned that my payments keep defaulting & was wondering if it is possible to set up 2 direct debits from each of our bank accounts to pay the mortgage so I am no longer…

Quick remortgaging question
Hi chaps, Just a quick couple of questions about our impending remortgage. We're currently with Advantage (Morgan Stanley) which is a near-prime mortgage. I'm hoping we'd now be considered 'normal' as we've conducted the mortgage perfectly, and our credit files are pretty much clean now (barring a couple of searches). Our…

Leeds Building Society Mortage Rate Reduction
Despite numerous calls to Leeds building Society and assurances over 3 weeks that a decision on cutting their mortage rate "will be made in a few days", they still won't make a commitment about cutting their mortgage rate. This really effects people with a Leeds Mortgage and we're being treated with utter contempt. All the…

Fixed deal ending, house for sale - do I stay on SVR or get a new deal?
My 2 year fixed deal is coming to an end in 1 months time. I'm currently paying 5.39% and then it reverts to my SVR which should be 5.44% by the time it kicks in. Problem is I am currently selling my house. While I am not too hopeful it will sell in the near future, I don't want to tie myself in to a new fixed just in case…

Halifax again
Hi there I started a post just before the last big rate cut saying if I should accept a new 5yr fix deal at 5.89% for a 95% mortgage. At the time it was a brilliant offer. Which I accepted but hadn't paid the fee as I was waiting on the paperwork etc (not sure if anyone remembers). Now we have had the cut they are now…

Northern Rock Discharge Fee £250 - Is it valid ?
I'm in the process of remortgaing from Northern Rock to an HSBC tracker. It appears I must pay a discharge fee of £250 if the loan is repaid early. Since Northern Rock is forcing my hand to remortgage elsewhere, am I within my rights to challenge this fee ????
