Overpayment on interest only V switch to repayment
Currently we're paying an interest only mortgage which we're pretty keen to move away from. It's fixed at 5.29% until end of March 2008. We're in a position to pay more than normal at the moment so...would it be better in theory to switch to a repayment mortgage until the fixed term is up and we look around for something…

Mortgage deposit question
I will be getting my first mortgage in or around December 2007. As a general rule is it better to put down 5% as a deposit, or to put down as much as I can ie more than 5%? I know a friend of mine was advised against putting down a large deposit so maybe it depends on the mortgage?
