Separation - Mortgage Pre-Final Settlement
My wife and I are going through the final, painful stages of marital break up. Unfortunately our solicitors seem to be in no hurry to finalise a settlement, part of which will no doubt be for my name to be taken of the deeds of the marital home. In the meantime I have been looking for a home to have my children stay with…
Help on fixed rate mortgage with adhoc lumpsum payments
Hi I am looking for a good fixed rate repayment, that has the option to pay off up to 10% at any time. Alliance and Leicester were close, however you could only make the big lump sums in january where I want any month - or March if restricted. Any other suggestions out there ?
Any good mortgage advice books
I'm a FTB just starting to looking into the market and of course mortgages etc. There is clearly a wealth of information on this site and forum - and others - but I was wondering if there is a good guide to mortgages I can buy (or borrow from my local library ... every penny ;-). A little bed time reading ... I'm sure I…

Hi, I am just about to remortgage and was planning on using my financial advisor to advise on the best deal. If I take up his offer on the best deal available, can anyone please explain how he gets paid his commission? How much extra is this likely to cost me? I have been tempted to contact L&C rather than my IFA, mainly…
Cash back mortgage???
Hi, could someone help me please. I currently have my mortgage plus everything else with the Virgin one account. I've seen the advert for The Chelsea giving 6% cash back and I'm unsure if this is a good idea. My current interest rate is 6.15%, but obviously all my money is in there, so it's offset. Thank you!
1st time buyer....confused
Hi My daughter is looking for a mortgage for her first property, she is on her own so would need a mortgage based purely on her salary. She went in to this around 2 years ago when she first started work at our local hospital, she was told by her bank that she should be with the same employer for 2 years before they would…
Estate agent insisting mortgage is done through them
Have put an offer in on our first home, however there is a lot of interest in the property and the agent has basically taken first offers and will be going back to everyone for final offers. The agent has said that they are insisting the mortgage is done through themselves, which I find appalling. As a first time buyer we…
