Husband took expensive loan, can we do anything?
Hello all My husband has run into problems due to a long period with little work. He has gone over his overdraft limit on his HSBC account, with the result that payments for council tax, water, insurance and others have bounced. He had his head in the sand about this for a long time. At last he went into the bank and on…

Trying to reduce rates
Hi Everyone, just a few questions really. I have a NR loan with no early redemption penalties for £6000. Problem is, its at 10% interest. Now I feel this is very high. Is it worth ringing them and seeing if they can lower it because a) I have my mortgage with them and b) I even have their Co-op branded credit card (at 8% -…

How Long Should I Give Them?
Took out a £12k loan plus PPI which added another £4.5k. Add to this 24.9% interest over 7 years - whoops!. I think I was mis-sold the whole thing as I was told that I could pay off more than just regular monthly instals which would reduce interest and term of loan. This sounded great as I anticipated getting rid of it…

YAY! We did it....
we got our PPI cancelled with Barclays and they have admitted they mis-sold (not in so many words) it to us and will refund the whole lot! Thats just short of £6000! :T One thing though, does anybody know if the interest automatically gets deducted too. It was £6000 for the protection and then another £2000 in interest, so…

Quick question regarding interest rates...
I've managed to work myself into a fair amount of debt mainly due to not budgeting and being an idiot. It's three credit cards and a graduate loan that I took out a few years ago. In order to reduce my monthly payments and make everything a lot easier I decided to take out a loan to pay off all of this (£8000). I went to…

125pc home loans offered to 'cash-poor' professionals
Reading the telegraph last night I became slightly confused http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/11/14/nloans14.xml The article referred to a new plan to offer 125% mortgages based on 95% secured and 25% unsecured. I was slightly confused as how this adds up to 125% and not 120% but let’s not go…

Hi, My mum needs a very short term wad of cash to secure a flat sale. She'll be able to get a loan from her brother within a month or so. Where would be a good place to apply, all things considered? Particularly with regard to early repayment, rates if applicable and any other fees that she would incur. I know nothing…

Student Loan
My husband obtained a student loan some years ago, and moved. They recently caught up with him and he owes 5,792.91. According to the debt company they cannot offer such a reduction as it is a…
