IVA and car purchase
I've recently started an IVA. As part of it, they let me keep my savings (around 1k initially ) for car repairs. I've managed to add to this a little more from bonuses (fortunately just below the 10% extra I'm allowed to earn. I already have a cheap car which although old and scruffy runs fine and should pass its test in a…

Advice needed
Hi, If someone could give me advice I'd really really appreciate it. So, I'm sinking. I have about £10000 in debt, paying for a 2 bed property for myself and my daughter on just my salary. Back along I contacted a debt advice service who told me either bankruptcy or a DRO was my best options. My preference was a DRO but I…

IVA Rejected - Out of pocket
Hi, I am asking for advice on behalf of a friend. She recently tried to enter into an IVA through a company called Lawson Fox, whom I have never heard of, nor can find any reviews. It was determined that she had £240 per month available and that is what was put in the proposal. However, she was asked to pay £240 up front,…

DRO - public information?
Good afternoon! I have a question I’m finding it impossible to get any answer for. I understand that a DRO is on a public register for 12 months plus 3 months, and on your credit file for 6 years. However, how long does it remain in the ‘public records’ section of your credit file? For example, a CCJ remains in the public…

IVA and pay rises
Hi! At work I've been offered to increase my hours 5 hours per week. I'm a bit confused about whether this extra cash would go straight to my IVA each month? I am aware I only have to give 50% of overtime etc over a certain amount, but if these extra 5 hours a week are part of my 'salary' the IVA would make me give them…

DRO lump sum and business
I have just submitted my paperwork for a DRO with Business Debtline and have been told there is a 9 week wait. My debts total £13,200 mostly on credit cards. I was ill last year and unable to work as much as I used to and ended up getting myself into arrears. In the meantime, a family member has sold a house and I am…

Claiming for ppi after Iva completion
I've not looked at this forum for a while as my Iva completed in 2015, but I've now looked at reclaiming ppi just because there's a deadline and I've not done it. Spoke to a company yesterday who said they won't touch claims unless the Iva completion is more than six years ago. I thought they'd got things mixed up but…

Hi I had my DRO approved in November. DRO Preferred Creditors?
I've received the final paperwork from step change to check before paying and sending off my application for a DRO. Upon going through each of my creditors to get the final balances, I've noticed that a debt I included with the application form is now at 0! It was £88 and was with Wonga.com, and it was the final instalment…

Then at the end of that year I was advised it had to be extended by another year. Made the final payment November 2017, thought that was it. Now I've been told my final earnings…

My DRO journey
I've decided I want to keep a record of my DRO journey. I think it will help me to clarify my thoughts and reduce the stress of the process since I don't really have anyone to talk to about it. I'm a carer for my grandparents and registered as self employed so i can earn some extra money online. I don't earn very much and…
