Leeds 2 year fixed ISA Question
Hello all, I recently opened a Leeds 2 year fixed ISA (Issue 65). After a long, drawn out application process and some problems accessing my account online, I am finally able to see my balance. I transferred my whole existing ISA balance from Nationwide to Leeds when I applied for the account. I had already put £9000 into…

Artemis ISA -should I keep it?
I am the executor and main beneficiary of my mum's will and have just obtained probate. She had a stocks and shares ISA from Artemis, which I have the option to transfer into my name or cash in. The value is £14000 approx. What should I do? My gut feeling is to keep it, as I don't need the cash at the moment.

I was…

Transferring old ISA
Hi I'm about to transfer an old ISA in to a new account, but I'm not sure if what is in the account will count as part of the current years allowance i.e. if I open a new account with the max amount for the year, £15240, is the value of the old ISA additional to this and therefore not transferable? Hope that makes sense.…

S&S ISA World selection balanced
Hi everyone I have bought HSBC world selection Stock and Share ISA (balanced- growth) in February this year. This is my first buy in ISAs. Since then the total fund has never reached at par and it is always lower than what I have invested. I guess this is because of amount of fees deducted time to time for maintenance of…

I was her full time carer & son, and devastated; and left with her dear little dog to look after, an elderly terrier. We have weathered the awful financial and emotional storm together, but my nerves are frazzled, the dog has…

Best type of savings account to put money aside for NIC bill
I've just found out that HMRC have abolished Direct Debit for NIC payments — instead they will simply bill you at the end of the year as part of the Self Assessment. I can see this going to get a lot of people into trouble at the end of the year as they will suddenly find themselves with a £145.60 bill to pay, on top of…

Previous best Cash ISA from West Brom in stealth rate cut
Just a note to all those who invested in the market-leading WeBSave Cash ISA at 1.55%, at MSE Martin's recommendation: the rate dropped to 1.4% on 20th July. Their response to me:

Junior Cash ISA vs Stocks & Shares ISA
Hi all, My daughter, aged 13 (nearly 14) has a Halifax Junior Cash ISA, savings of £4000 + £100 per month, interest rate of 4%. I was wondering whether she would be better off with the £100 per month going into a Stocks & Shares ISA instead? I was thinking of the Vanguard Lifestrategy 100 (or is that too ambitious, perhaps…

New cash ISA by transfer only?
Does anyone know of any cash ISAs which can be opened by transfer in only (i.e. no new money)? I have already opened an ISA this year with some new money plus a transfer in from an old ISA. I have another prior year ISA maturing shortly but if I transfer it into the new one I've already opened the total will exceed the…

What's your opinion on foreign savings accounts?
My friend from india says it's a good idea to move your money away from the UK seeing as the collapse will cause you to lose most of your money whereas India is shielded as they have a strong economy. He earns around 10% interest because he puts it in his parents accounts. Now I've checked the UK and the best I saw was 6%…

Cash ISA transfer, so confused
I was more clued up when there were individual limits in place for S&S and Cash ISAs. I managed to screw up last year due to the previous rule changes and overpaid my ISAs because I contributed to both cash and S&S ISAs so I wanted to check things out before I did anything this year. I have;* S&S ISAs paid in to regularly…

Junior ISA and Child Trust Fund
My children each have a Child Trust Fund (CTF). I now wish to open a Junior ISA for each child. Can I open a Junior ISA and transfer the CTF to the Junior ISA at a later date or am I required to convert the CTF to a Junior ISA first. This way, I would have both a CTF and a Junior ISA at the same time but am finding it…

child savings
Hi all, I opened a savings account for my son (now 2) when he was born. I went for the Halifax regular saver and put in £100 a month which gets 6% although its not as good as it sounds because the money doesn't accumulate and gets transferred to a low interest account after 12 months. Also you get no statements and no…
