ISA confusion - can someone please unpick?!
I dont know why Im finding this so hard to get my head around, but I guessed this would be the best place to have it unravelled. I invested 5k in a cash ISA on 15th March this year. It had a 1% introductory bonus p.a. which will come to an end 12 months after I opened the account. I know this means that I can switch to a…

Any way, now I am due to graduate this year, and I have a cash flow problem and haven't paid into the ISA in a long time, so would like to release the funds. I have recieved the forms from Halifax, but wondered if it'd…

Review of ISA choice
Hi, I've been looking at a few options today for investing in an ISA for this tax yr and also transferring in from previous years. I just wanted to ask for some opinions about my choices. I'm looking at going with a fixed account so I dont have to worry about the rates dropping, I'm happy to fix for 1 or 2 yrs. I'd prefer…

Maths ISA question
Hi, I'm terrible at Maths and am trying to work out the difference in interest I would earn between a 3% rate and 3.35% rate if I was to invest £5340. I think both rates are correct when I checked and are for Northern Rock, one is their account you can open in the branch and the other is the e-isa. I'm thinking if the…

My Santander ISA
Hi everyone, had a search but can't find the answer to my question. I opened a cash ISA with Abbey Nat, as they were then, in 1999. My statements now say 'Easy ISA'. Will they re-designate it to a 'Flexible ISA' for me so I can get the higher interest? There's only ~£150 in it at present, but I'm now in a position to start…

Does anyone know whether skipton building society has changed their paperwork within the last 2 years. I ask this as I am experiencing post going astray and I suspect some of my post has been tampered with! Also receiving silent phone calls. Previously when investing by post in fixed rate isas with Skipton they sent out…

Stocks & shares ISA query
My father of 78 has recently signed up for a 5 year stocks and shares ISA with Scottish Widows, as recommended by Halifax. The cooling off period has just passed. He was not aware there was an initial charge and an annual fee, but was advised to take it out as the return would be higher. I feel this is not good advice for…

S&S ISA Novice Questions
Hi, I am saving for my young son long term - so have around 18 years left. For the 1st year I've put away £100 in savings. Thinking of changing this to investment and wondering the best way to go about opening a S&S ISA (in my name). Is it as simple as walking into a bank and advising them of my appetite for risk ? I have…

Nationwide or HL Investment ISA?
Almost 3 months ago Nationwide BS collared my husband in branch and suggested that we do something cleverer with the 60k we had sitting in cash ISAs. (Before you ask, we have no debts, not even a mortgage, or expensive spending habits and plans). We have plans for the other 35k (sortof), so question is what to do with…

Euro splits up - lose or lose big??
looking around the economic world I get the feeling the majority feel somehow the Euro will survive simple because the alternatives are all too scary. There are reports of large deposits being moved between currencies (out of the Euro). People protecting their portfolios from a disaster. But no actual panic. But what…

Transferring Previous Years Balance from Current Year ISA?
Hi, Had a read through the ISA guide but wasn't 100% clear on how this would work. I currently have approx £15k in a Standard Life ISA with (roughly, they don't do cash ISA's anymore so I can't find an exact rate) 2.3% interest. Approx £11k of it is made up from previous years and £4k from this year. I've been looking at…
