S&s isa
Hi everyone. I'm thinking of investing in this type of ISA (have been going with cash ISA so far) and have been trying to read up on it. I have some funds that I have looked into and would like to invest in, but I need to set things up and just wondered what the views are of people with some experience in this. I am with…

Sell S&S ISAs and cash in on gains? (but lose the tax-free status)
Hi, I have a couple of S&S ISAs from past years. I have these in lieu of a pension (although now Ive also started to make small monthly contributions to a pension). These S&S ISAs have performed averagely over the past 2 years - nothing particularly exciting, but atleast they havent fallen in value. I have about 25…

A few Cash ISA based questions...
Hi, I have a few Cash ISA based questions:- 1. I opened an Abbey Direct ISA (issue 5) on 1st August 2009 and transferred all my previous cash ISA’s into it and also paid in my £3600 allowance. Do you have to have your cash in an ISA for a minimum term i.e. a year from the open date, because I’m considering transferring all…

Confused about the rules!
Hi, sorry if this has been asked a thousand times already, just can't get my head around all this ISA stuff! So I've already got an ISA with £3250 in...if I somehow managed to open a First Direct ISA and transfer this before the new tax year, could I add a further £3000 before the new tax year so I would have my £5100…

Quick comparison Lloyds and M&S FRISA
Folks just a quick note. I am deciding between the above isas for next year, currently with Lloyds. I reckon that the interest rate would have to be 7.1% in year 3 to better the 4.0% rate available from M&S. I think a rate of near 7% three years from now, while possible is unlikely. So thats it decided then, unless…

Transferring ISA - Problem
I'm trying to transfer an ISA I opened a few years ago to a new provider. Problem is, the new provider says they have sent a transfer form to the current provider, however they haven't heard anything from the current provider. I've chased this up with both banks, and one is maintaining they haven't received any…

Me telling LTSB the ISA rules
I phoned LTSB today to ask if I could make a partial transfer of my LTSB FRISA to their 3.1% variable offer and transfer out the rest (the useless form makes no provision for that). The operator said why didn't I transfer part to the ISA and part to a fixed term bond? You mean a fixed term ISA bond? No a bond. Why would I…

Have your say on ISA transfers
[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif] What's this all about?[/title] Consumer Focus, the campaigning and lobby group, is running an investigation into the Cash ISA market and would like to hear your views. The investigation is particularly looking at consumers' experiences of transferring…

A&L isa issue 6
Just wanting to confirm before I transfer, the Alliance and Leicester issue 6 ISA says the following: "Balances below £9,000 earn 2.00%. Balances above £9,000 earn 2.75%. Rates include a variable bonus payable until 1 April 2011" If transferring £9000+ is the 2.75% paid on the total amount or that above £9000? Thanks in…

Cash ISA to S&S ISA, then new cash ISA?
I know I can transfer funds from a cash ISA into a s&s ISA. I believe I read somewhere on this forum that if I do that with an 09/10 cash ISA, I can then open a new cash ISA for 09/10. I can't find the thread now (reminder to self: keep notes!) so can someone confirm this is the case? And if it is, is there a particular…

...and another ISA query...
Hi all, I was wondering if someone could answer this as HSBC seem to be taking awhile in getting back to me. I have a fixed rate ISA with HSBC, of which the rate is fixed until the end of October (If my memory serves me right). (1) Can I add next years allowance to that fixed rate or do I need to open a new product? I…

Halifax Reward ISA ending - New offer
Hi, Just for information I suppose more than anything. I have a Halifax Direct Award ISA - Opened last April- rate has been 3% throughout the term. the rate drops to 0.5% on 7th April 2010. Halifax have written to me with a new ISA they would like me to take up - A new FIX rate ISA for 2 years at 3.5%, They say its a…

Putting shares into a share ISA
I have around £3k in shares that I have been dabbling with for a while. I'm happy to invest at my own risk. Whenever I've looked at share ISAs they always involve buying into a fund of some sort. Is it possible to have a 'DIY' shares ISA, where I can simply buy the shares that I want and place them inside the ISA 'wrapper'?

Closing ISA
I have an ISA which ends April this year. What happens when I get to the end of this tax year - will my bank ask me whether I want to continue or have it paid back into my current account? I've seen Santander offering 3.5% but not transfers in - if I close my current ISA can I then open a new one with Santander?

I now have just under 12000 invested in a Santander Easy Isa after saving really this year and put in the maximum amount I can having now reached the age of 50. ISAs for Dummies
Hi I have read the FAQ thread but have additional Qs. I opened an ISA last year and have paid my full allowance into it (£3600). It's an M&S cash ISA. I also have a savings account with about £10K in, some of which I will want to transfer into an ISA in the new tax year. I have never had savings before in my life so am…

Is it wise moving to a fixed rate for X years ISA?
The reason I ask this is; The bank of England have said that inflation is on the rise, which is never good. The main tool to reduce inflation is increasing the interest rates. So far they have not chose that action. Instead they are waiting till christmas to see if the christmas spending spree will help to bring inflation…

Fixed v Variable Rates
Hi, i'm usually up to speed with my Isa's and have moved them around. For the last 2 years I have been with LLoyds TSB at a fixed 1 year rate. At the start of the tax year I have put the full amount allowed in and left it. However this year LLoyds have dropped the 1yr fixed rate and their 2 yr fixed rate is now only 3.30%.…

When to look for new ISA's for 2010/11
I've used my 2009/10 ISA allowance, I know I cannot pay in any further funds this tax year, but what I want to know is: When should I start looking for new ISA's for 2010/11 tax year? Can I open one now ready to transfer funds in on the 6th April? Are the ISA's currently advertised ones for the 2010/11 tax year, or only…
