Mixer shower not very hot
Hello. I have this shower in my bathroom but recently I have noticed that when you put the water control to full, the water isn't boiling hot. All other taps and showers in the house are fine. Could there be an issue with it and if so, what could it be? The shower is about 6 years old and was left by the previous owner.

Wall crack repair
Our walls were skimmed a few years ago but there are now a few hairline cracks to repair. I used Red Devil one time lightweight filler which was fine for most of the cracks but some of the others seem to be a problem. I sand and fill these cracks but a few days later the filler seems to "rise" from the repaired area and…

Damp/condensation Help
Hi all Last week, I noticed a black spot at the bottom of my stair string in the hallway. Today, I went to investigate. It felt damp and had a mould smell, so I sprayed with mould spray and attempted to scrape away with a blunt kitchen knife. The paint and top layer of timber moved too easily for my liking, so I removed…

Painting staircase bannister
The staircase was painted in cheap mahogany colour I'm guessing about 15 or so years ago and it's horrible. The paint is fading too. I wanted to repaint the whole thing; the handle and spindles a darker colour, navyish perhaps, and the bottom frame that you walk past in the hallway, a proper white. Am I setting myself up…

Fireplace restoration WWYD?
We have moved in our terraced house in Kent and are in the process of uncovering the fireplaces in the living and dining room. It's turned out to be much bigger job than we thought (bit of a recurring theme with this house!) and we're stumped on what to do next. This is the living room fireplace - the wall between that and…

Can I decide about installing an inner porch door later?
My house is being renovated which includes a newly built brick porch (double walled with proper insulation). Both hallway and porch will have underfloor heating and porcelain floor tiles. Initially I was thinking that the inner door would need to be purchased from the outset because the door frame and door would be…
