Drain/wastepipe cleaner
What do plumbers or anybody on here use to clean these. I mean stuff to pour down (not bad enough for drain rods yet). None of the very expensive supermarket stuff I've tried in the past was any good, unless I missed one you'd recommend?

Hi - I was purchasing a property late last year and had instructed a qualified electrician to pick up keys for the property from the estate agents so he could carry out a full electrical check. A couple of days in advance of the work being carried out I rang and left a message on the electricians mobile asking that he did…

Landlord took my deposit and ran
I took up a private tenancy at an apartment in June 2009. At first glance everything seemed OK but on closer inspection, there were a multitude of health concerns and several non-functional appliances (the washing machine being the main one). After 14 days of chasing up the landlord to have everything repaired and getting…

Bought a house off a bodger
In December we bought a small house. We knew that the guy we bought the house from had done some work to the house but nothing came up on the survey as odd. Not only did he leave a load of rubbish in the loft and garden, the house was filthy too. Today I discovered that the woodburner in our living room wasn't properly…

Hi, I'm moving into a new home and would like some ideas on how to fit out a walk-in wardrobe 9ft 6ins x 4ft. There is a door in the middle of one long side. As a hoarder I need as much storage space as possible (hence dispensing with an ensuite and having a WIW instead) - so I wondered if anybody who has one can give me…

Double Glazing under guarantee but company dissolved
We had our double glazing installed 6 years ago and I seem to recall it had a 10 year guarantee. From what I understand, guarantees for that sort of thing have had to be underwritten for a while. The company (CWC (Camberley) Ltd has been dissolved (checked on Companies House website). We have now had a unit develop…

New combi boiler - kitchen or bedroom?
I hope someone can give me some constructive feedback on this please.
