Question about fences and woodstain
I built a trellis-type fence in my garden, made out of treated timber. Is there any need to apply woodstain (e.g. Ronseal) to the fence to keep it from rotting or will the wood treatment do the job?

Granite worktops - any recommendations for Oxfordshire?
Hi Just wondered if anyone had any experience of a company that would template and install a granite worktop for our kitchen? Current quotes for Star Galaxy have ranged from £3700 to £2100! The cheapest quote is from a company called Ultra Granite. But a bit worried why they are so much cheaper then anyone else. The next…

Pulling off old loose render from old wall; Blue underneath; worried
Is an old wall likely to be made of asbestos? My house is 1930's, with garden walls added later (prob 1960's ish), and underneath some loose rendering is a blue powdery substance. Is this just old paint or something more sinister?

Hi, I'm a complete novice when it comes to home maintenance. I got on the property ladder pretty late in the day. Now I'm thinking of replacing my bathroom. It's very small - only just about enough space for a bath, over-bath (electric) shower, sink and toilet. I want to replace everything - the floor, new tiles on all…

Wee Wee Smell!
Hello All, Sorry for the title but I thought it might catch people's attention! We finally have our new bath in and today the new toilet was fitted. However the footprint of the new toilet is different to the old one. The problem is that the old one had a very badly fitting piece of lino round it which I think means that…

Garage door repair/replace - Cheshire?
My garage door has never been replaced so it must be about 30 years old, pretty basic metal up-and-over one. The shutting/locking mechanism has broken ie totally come apart, fallen off. Would love to replace the whole door, but would need somebody to fit it too, so think that'll be out the budget...next option is to repair…

Foran ongoing £5.99 a month they'll cover all repairs for the machine including replacing it with another model when it…

How much does it cost this country to put in disabled facilities in new builds?
Sorry this is a rant. We have just had a 45 point list back from building control for things that need sorted prior to commencing the build. Most are fiarly reasonable. Some are just plain jobsworth and pointless (ie it is obvious that we comply such as 1m3 of kitchen storage..we have a whole fitted kitchen..) But the ones…

Matching Skirting Boards - Bristol
Hi guys, I dont' suppose anyone on here knows where I might be able to get some skirting board to match the one that I have already got?
