Online Estate Agents
Has anyone found these sucessful? I note they are an awful lot cheaper than your usual shop based estate agents, and if just as good worth trying? Would love to hear good and bad experiences ideally in the North East region

Shared ownership gross annual income
Hi all, My partner and I are looking into buying a shared ownership property in London. The maximum household gross annual income is £66000, we earn slightly more than that, around £68500. I was wondering whether anyone knows how exactly they work out this gross annual income? We both work for universities with the USS…

buying ex-local authority flats
Hi, Quite a few of the properties within our budget (for buying) in our area are ex-local authority. Mostly maisonettes, not the prettiest blocks on the outside, but nice inside, and generally in fairly convenient locations and, which is the big factor, in many cases quite a lot cheaper than other properties of a similar…

Buying in a small town
The vendors and their solicitor have the same (very unusual!) surname, which could of course be coincidence. On the other hand, it could be a relative and could (hopefully!) mean a speedy transaction. This solicitor and my surveyor are 2 doors away from each other, and directly opposite the estate agent. Well it amused me…

Chasing up our estate agents
Hi everyone, Little rant I suppose! My other half is nagging me to chase up our estate agents I spoke to them at the start of the week and I did say I would call today if they had not called me. Basically waiting for our buyer's builder to arrange to come around to look at the roof. The point my other half is making is…

Putting profit from sale into mortgage of other property?
I apologise that this will possibly be a bit badly phrased….Anyway, I am marketing my old house (rented for last 8 years) this weekend, anticipating having an offer by end of next week. I own it outright, so even after the costs and CGT, I get a good lump sum. In order to move, my husband and I will also be selling…

Evicting tenant - do I need a court order?
I am a landlord with a tenant who is behind with their rent. They have been in the property approx. 4 years, they fell behind with the rent in year 2 but have always made overpayments when possible, and I was sympathetic to their situation so I took no further action. Around 9 months ago one of the couple lost their job…

Reasons for pulling out of purchase after exchange
Are there any legally justifiable reasons for buyer's pulling out between exchange and completion, meaning that they would get their deposit returned? I'm thinking particularly of new planning applications that might arise in that period.

Shared Ownership - resales market in London
Hello Does anyone have any sense of how healthy the resales market for SO is in London? We want to sell our SO flat in the next 6 months and I'm unconvinced that the Housing Association makes any effort to market "second hand" properties - it's all about selling the new properties they are building. Our other option would…

Are estate agents honest?
Hello all I want to get an issue off my chest... :) Last year I made an offer on a property - at asking price - which was accepted by the vendor. I was then told (a day or two later) that the vendor was proceeding with another offer which had been 'raised significantly'. I offered to raise too, and was told by the agent…

Just need some advice. Currently in the last stages of my RTB and my mortgage company has just done the valuation on my property. Engrossment fee - Right to Buy
Hi I have just received the solicitor's bill for my right to buy, there is an engrossment fee of £114. I've googled it and some info says it's to do with new builds or recent refurbs and some info says it's to do with the amount of paperwork. I wasn't expecting this on the bill, should it be on there? Thanks
