NPower. Pulling a fast one?
I've got gas with NPower, and their latest bill has confused me no end. NPower raised their gas prices on the 4th Jan 2008, so as a result the bill for the quarter is split into usage before / after that date. They've titted up in several ways, all perhaps relevant to current gas customers.. 1. The number of days at the…

Problems with NPower
I have just moved into a house that is supplied by Npower. I set up the account over the phone and as far as I was aware, I would be billed for what I use. I then received a letter a week after phoning them saying that I will be paying £89 per month for both gas and electric. I have never done this before with a supplier.…

Switching to Npower with Quidco
Hi I'm after a bit of advise please. All the comparison sites suggest that I would be between £20-£50 (annually) better off with Npower's Sign Online 10 tarriff. I was looking at Quidco and noted that the cashback for dual fuel switch to npower was £40. (happy days!) This afternoon I thought I'd sign up, however I noticed…

Sitching - Word to the wise
This site provides good advice regarding switching especially regarding checking tariffs are accurate. However what I found is that firms have numerous tariffs which are not necessarily increased at the same time. As an example BG was in the news 18/1/08 for increases in prices of 15%. They did not however increase 'click…

Are Switching Sites Accurate
I have a concern over the switching sites. If my experience is anything to go by – they are seriously wrong in their calculations. I used energyhelpline.com I entered my useage in kWh. I was told my current tariff would be £2309 and then give a list of options for saving. I calculate my current tariff will cost about…

Atlantic - can anyone answer this?
I live in Aberdeen and I currently deal with Atlantic E & G for both energy supplies. Every year I receive a rebate of one average monthly payment for each utility. I consider Atlantic (part of Scottish Southern Energy) to be competitive but I'm not sure if the comparison sites take the rebate into account when comparing…

Warning - current estimated fuel bills could be losing you money
Anyone receiving a recent electricity or gas bill will have noticed the substantial price rises over the last couple of weeks. Many of these bills are estimated which isn't usually a big problem, but, in this instance, if the bill is under-estimated it could be losing you money. This is because when you catch up with the…

British Gas say I need a new boiler - best deal advice please
I know there are a lot of people here experienced in the gas business, and a lot of darn good hagglers too, so between you perhaps you can help me out: I have a boiler covered under British Gas Homecare, which has packed up. The engineer was very helpful, and hoped to repair it but the parts are obsolete (he even tried the…

duel fuel cost too high?
I live in a 1 bedroom flat and work during the day so everything is switched off. I have just moved in and was paying £79 per month for duel fuel with Npower but thought that was too much, so changed to Southern Electric and got my first bill which is £107, which is for 14.01-04.02, so only 3 weeks. To me this seems far…

Grants for thermostatic radiator valves???
I know it's a long shot, but would anyone have seen or heard of grants for radiator thermostatic valves?? It's for a person on benefits, disabled, 50+, so they would probably qualify. I've been searching everywhere but can't find anything. I'm assuming there isn't anything but if anyone has heard of these, could they let…

Any help would be much appreciated! I live with 4 other students, in a university managed house. We have to take care of our own bills. Unfortunately, I haven't been in charge of our house bills and never knew they have been supplying us with estimate readings until today! (Practical jokes do pay off!) Basically, the…
