DLA Tribunal won
Hi all Hope you had a good Christmas. I went to my DLA Tribunal on Friday 13th Dec. 2013, with only an hour and half notice [apparently they sent letter but I didn't receive it]. Anyway I was grilled for over an hour and eventually was awarded HRM LRC backdated Sept. 2012 and until end 2015. The court clerk wasn't…

DLA NYD payment
I am due to get paid on NYD, they have told me it will be NYE, which I hope it is, but I am a bit worried it might not be. Last year I was paid on 29th December, but yet it wasn't due until 2nd January & with some payments missed over Xmas Eve, I think I have the right to be worried. I asked them on the phone & they said…

What usually happens after a successful DLA tribunal?
I (with help from the CAB) applied for DLA for my autistic son in November last year. We were turned down based on info provided by the school. In the end it went to a tribunal which took place on 11th December and we were successful. He has been awarded middle rate care and lower rate mobility. I was asked to go back in…

Sport for people with disabilities
I'm on a hunt for different/extreme/unusual sports that can accommodate disabled people. My area just does the usual (boring, IMO) sports like swimming and football. Does anyone do anything different? So far I've found Flyability which looks amazing. Any ideas like that (or not quite so dangerous) are greatly appreciated.

Lack of support from social services - what now?
This will be long. I apologise: Registered partially sighted in 2007 and was told that someone from SS would come out to explain what happens next and what I would be entitled to. This happened and I was offered no assessment or any form of help. As time went on, my sight has become worse. I have no depth perception and my…

Disabled facilities grant questions
In the middle of filling in a form regarding my housing situation and health. Currently on council housing list and am classed as low priority because I have somewhere to live. The older I'm getting, the worse my health is getting and my parents house is becoming more and more unsuitable. We live near three main roads and…

Permitted Work Whilst in Recent of Benefits
Hi, I'm in receipt of DLA and ESA due to several hospital admissions and a few suicide attempts in the past - one where I suffered a broken back - and am considering doing permitted work to begin to get my life together. I spoke to an advisor at the job centre about doing permitted work, however I'm still unclear if the…

Thank you and Happy Christmas
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the kind, knowledgeable and helpful posters on this board. Thinking of everyone who posts and reads here today…

Disabled Facilities Grant
Back in the summer the occupational therapist who was treating my ex (major stroke, confined to wheelchair) sent a recommendation to social services re. providing a ramp so that he could leave the house using his electric wheelchair. This was not acted upon until November as the person it was sent to was on sick leave. Now…

DLA renewal
My brother has to renew his DLA. It is due for renewal at the end of January but he has only just sent in the forms. I know the DWP used to say to send it back around 10-12 weeks before the renewal date but he has sent it back with just 5 weeks left. If the claim expires before they come to a decision would he then have to…

Can I claim PIP?
I thought I could; but someone is telling me otherwise. Currently on DLA LRC / LRM. Over the last 6 months or so, my health has become worse. I was born with a condition which was finally diagnosed last year and I really am now starting to have some side effects from it, which is causing me a lot of trouble. I am on…

Lapsed DLA
My son allowed his DLA claim to lapse due to emotional problems. A Visitor from DLA wanted to make an appointment to visit him about eighteen months ago. I advised the visitor my son had moved from the address Blackpool held. The visitor said my son had to inform them of his new address as they needed to see him to check…
