How much does diesel cost in France?
I am off to France tomorrow and I understand diesel is cheaper over there, so it should be worth travelling nearly empty and filling up on arrival. I just wondered what the current price is?

When I suggested Belgium Marty it was if you were going to Calais cause cigs & baccy plus fuel Belgium. Less than 1 hour from Calais, wine you buy in France. Have a good trip.

Those Auchan prices are nearly 3 weeks old click HERE for up to date Carrefoure petrol/diesel prices. Diesel now 1.373 Euros/litre, exchange rate 1.2 Euros/£ so nearer £1:14, cheaper but not much. Expect fuel to be dearer away from the hypermarkets so probably about the same there.

Diesel isn't as cheap for us Brits as it used to be. When the £ hovvered at 1.40ish it made French fuel much cheaper. But with the £ at 1.20ish the savings are much smaller.

Just got back this evening, filled up at a supermarket @ 1.388 Euros per litre. So that works out at about £1.14 per litre. So it's about a 7% saving for me. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Could I ask this same question again please? Has anyone been recently?

Click the links in the earlier posts to find out the current prices, Victors Bruvvers link seems highly accurate, diesel is gazole, around 0.95 E/Litre

I live in the Languedoc, France and pay about 93 cents for a litre of diesel. Supermarkets are the cheapest places, and they can vary by a couple of cents, just like in the UK. Not sure about petrol costs though sorry
