Minibus Insurance

Can someone help. I brought a MINIBUS with nine seats. Its only going to be used on a Saturday to take my family of five and my neices and nephews out for the day here and there.
The minibus is classed as a PLG and I passed my lisence in 1988 so its not a problem from that side of things. The problem is that insurance comapnies will not touch me as they say its a minibus and comes under commercial.
Its all fitted with seat belts and is stanstard. Its a Ford Transit Tourneo so its a proper one.
Anyone know of the best way to try to insure it. The quotes I have been given are over £1000 and seeing as its just going to sit on my drive until a saturday and will cover less than 4000 miles its just not going to work out.

Hi
Did you not price the insurance before buying the vehicle.0 -
Try Towergate - they have a scheme for family minibuses.

QBE are a huge minibus insurer and you can either go through them directly OR you can go through a broker! They will insure for Social domestic and pleasure!0 -

OK - I'm in the same boat. How much did you finally have to pay, and from who?
Much appreciated, as I have a poor NCB (no jokes about market research before committing to purchase, please)0
