Cheap September holiday

My Mum (who is 64 today) is looking to go on a beach holiday by herself in September for 10 days (I don't think she wants a singles or escorted/touring type holiday), but will make it 7 if needs be. She's on a tight budget, but doesn't want anywhere cheap and nasty. She was wanting to pay about £300 altogether, but I said she may have to go to £400.

I've had a quick look and it's coming up quite a bit more than £400 on the package sights. I looked at AIRB&B which might be a better bet.

Any advice on where to go, how to get best deals etc

Thanks in advance

What sort of accomodation and board does she fancy?
Where in the UK is your mum?

Self catering or half board. Hotel or apartments.

September is extremely popular with people who don't have kids so i'm afraid it holds its price. She will have single occupancy to pay to start with which could easily be £100+. I think she will have to up her budget quite a lot, I don't think she'd even get cheap and nasty for £400 for a week. The end of September prices will be starting to fall.
  • Hi I am 66 and holiday alone on a budget. I stay in YHAs or back packers hostels. I have found them to be the cheapest form of accommodation and the extra saving is the use of a kitchen so I always do my own breakfast and some simple meals or packed lunches. There is also lots of information about walks and other activities in the area.

I am going to Morocco in September. 1st week. Over your budget but definitely worth considering for sun, beach and cheap prices.

A week in Valencia from 7th Sept, flying from Birmingham? £349 with Monarch via LateDeals.

Prices on this site will probably drop later in summer so a good one to keep an eye on! I'm going for a week in Crete on my own from Friday, only £250!
