    Good morning everyone

Hope you're all ok. It's another bright and beautiful day
here though must admit starting to feel a little muggy
again ... could really do with a bit more rain - only
    during the night though!

I bet your family are having a magical time on their
holiday rose - how long are they away for?

Talking of magical .... did I hear words 'apples & rhubarb
here so guess there's some pie making to be done'
    ?

    Sounds scrumptious fire**fly!

Very well done on winning a Marsden's T-shirt this morning
sheils. I agree - there are so many beautiful places here
in the UK to visit and explore. Hope DS3 has a lovely time
at yours and yes ... I would definitely get him to cook!

Oh nearly forgot .... it's 'National Cherry Day UK' today ...

The Romans first brought cherries from Persia and introduced
them here in Britain. Some even say that ancient roads can be
traced from the spots where marching Romans spat out their
seeds and caused a new tree to grow!

But over the last fifty years we’ve seen a decline in our cherry
orchards. Which means we now import around 95% of all cherries!

So the main goal of National Cherry Day is to raise awareness
about the need to maintain our traditional orchards! If everyone
eats one home-grown cherry each, the future of British cherries
will be looking up in no time!

Well must get on .... have a lovely Sunday all whatever you're
    up to.

Hi everyone lovely and sunny here today. Didn't have time to draw breath yesterday. As we didn't have Douglas to mind we decided to go to the pub for a nice relaxing breakfast but before we knew the family of 5 from Leeds were on the phone saying we were'nt in and joined us at the pub so that was out peaceful morning gone LOL. Having said that they took me to IKea to get workstations to equip my sewing room, came back and put them up for me too We got tea for 9 of us as DD2 and GD came as well. It was nearly 9pm when we were on our own again.

Couldn't get blades for overlocker but found out we can sharpen them so SonIL got them off for us, we just need to sort them and put them back and hopefully it will work better.

What a lovely Yorkie pic yesterday firfly, thank you o much.

Hope your DS's partner like he new challenging job Indie, good luck for her.

Welcome Kate nice to see you in the Inn, you are very welcome.

Hope you DS arrives OK today and doesn't cause you too much washing LOL.

Thanks for the info on the cherries Alfie, very interesting.

It was indeed sad news about tinktink Wingo and as sheils says so very young to RIP.

Sorry if I have missed anyone, have a lovely day whatever you are doing.

when we had an allotment where we used to live
years ago we had a cherry tree in it
was there when we took the allotment on &
was a lovely addition to it & iirc it took a lot of
looking after with pruning etc & we had to cover it with
    fleece in the winter,
also the birds used to come down & peck at the fruits in the
summer when they were growing so
they'd be half eaten before we had chance to get
    any half decent ones
just been looking at a site that sells them & might be
tempted to get one now as they recommend to grow
in a fruit cage or have net sleeves & grease bands,
still looks like a lot of looking after for them though,
lol, might be better to just buy them ready

    Good morning everyone

It feels warm here already so am guessing we're going to
be in for a bit of a scorcher today and tomorrow! Hopefully
ending in a storm to clear the air a little.

You're all most welcome re the cherry info. I also love
cherries (even more so when they're British).

some apple & rhubarb for your pudding this afternoon Alfie

Same here! I can remember years ago Mum & Dad used to
have a cherry tree and the birdies used to swoop down and
get the fruit before we even got a look in! Greedy little
    blighters!

It sounds as if you had a brilliant day yesterday sylv
including your 'nice relaxing breakfast'! Lovely of your family
running you to Ikea for workstations for your sewing room
and then setting it up for you. Very pleased that
you can sharpen the blades too re overlocker.

For the next few days it's the annual 'Swan Upping 2017' - very
    interesting - here's the link:

    https://www.royal.uk/swan-upping-2017-0

David Barber, the Queen's Swan Marker

Apparently the poor swans have had a dreadful time of
late due to various reasons so they're all hoping that
the census this year shows things are looking brighter for
    these magnificent creatures.

Have a lovely and lucky start to the week all and please
    take care.

Lovely sunny day here. We were busy cutting down in the garden yesterday but have such a huge pile of branches and leaves I don't know whether we should do any more just now. Maybe just go for a walk before we collect DS3. Looks like he hasn't made the early start he said he would so imagine he had a night out last night to celebrate being on holiday.
    Wishing everyone a lucky week.
