budget sat nav?

Options
So we are changing our car and the new, secondhand, one does not have a sat nav. So looking for a basic easy to use one, see some on Ebay for around £30 to £50, Tom Tom start 25 and Garmin nuvi.
So what should we do?
Oh it must have France and UK.
Your recommendations please.

I've got the Tomtom Start 25 with European maps and it works great. If buying off ebay, make sure it has the free lifetime map updates. The newest ones and the oldest ones don't have this, I think the only way to tell is that it has it written on the box and is officially called Start 25m.

I've got the Garmin Nuvi 55 LMT (Lifetime Map and Traffic updates), and I love it.

Covers UK, Ireland, and Western Europe.

2nd hand TomTom 5000 is as cheap as I'd go, I had a 50 and it was horrid having to faff-about trying to link to mobi for traffic updates etc. The 5000 has lifetime SIM and maps.

Why would you link it to a mobile?

I just plug mine into my PC's USB Socket.

    Should've got the 55 LMT.

It receives its traffic information direct to the unit, so you don't have to pair your phone with it.

Navmii app on my Android phone. Phone already paid for, and wasn't bought specifically as a satnav. Navmii app is free, and will work without a data connection.

So if you already have a phone, you can't get much more MSE than that. :)

Buy a new one would be my opinion, old budgets ones could have really old maps you might end up down a really dodgy road (happened to me!)
