murphy beds / pull down beds

I'm trying to plan out a new house I'm moving too. The current owners have a bed / desk (think sofa bed but it changes into a desk rather than a sofa). They are very expensive though and I think I'd need a deeper desk.
So I'm thinking of a horizontal murphy bed instead. There seem to be quite a few people selling them, at a range of prices depending on how posh the cupboard looks.
Does anyone have one of these or have any real life experience? This would just be for a spare bedroom so I can still use it as a study most of the time, but still have somewhere for people to stay.

Hi
I used to live in a studio flat with one so it was used daily. It wasn't the prettiest but was simple to get out/put away and comfortable0 -
Hello,
I'm interested on these types of beds for a spare room, but can only find a few options on eBay. Can anyone recommend suppliers - or note who to avoid?
Thanks!0 -
We were looking into getting a Studybed for a while but have decided against it for the moment. They look fantastic. The desks vary in size according to whether it's a single or double bed, by the looks of it. I think they are a great option, and one or two do come up on eBay. Listings often say that the original company will install it all for you for a cost of course but would still end up cheaper than buying new.0
