Welcome to 2016 and the 5th year of this thread!

The idea was conceived by inamin in 2012, continued by Betty Crumble in 2013 and then taken over by yours truly! In that time it has helped keep lots of us on track and clear thousands of extra debt £££££s.

SO, the idea of this is that we all make a decision to make ONE additional payment every week towards one of your debts. It doesn't have to be the same debt every week (although that may be a good idea if you have one that is more expensive than the others) and it can be for as much or as little as you like.

However, if it helps, then you are more than welcome change the focus from a debt to a savings goal, that's ok too!!

There is really only one rule and that is that the payment must be above and beyond your usual minimum or planned payments (so no taking it off your minimum and then paying less on the due date!!!! )

If you want to state your goal/debt in your first post then please do so, we like a bit of waffle

A signature line that states your amount that week, then cleared and added to your total at the end of the week so we can all see where we're at when we post is a good idea too. Personally, I've left previous years' totals on mine too, I love seeing that I've cleared over £2.5k in extra payments in the last 3 years using this thread!!

No amount is too small! Every little helps as they say in a certain blue supermarket! Where you find the extra money from is up to you!

Everyone is welcome and I look forward to having you on board.

Lucky Xx

Please can I join again this year?
I found the thread so motivating small or big payments all added up over the year.

I would like to improve on last year. I kept getting derailed by things I hadn't planned and budgeted properly for. Unexpected vet bills was one so now the furr ies have a kitty kitty also not adding in kennels and cattery into holiday budget. (how could I have overlooked that?)
Anyhow thank you for starting the new thread lucky and I look forward to 2016
  • Course you can join again pickle - it wouldn't be the same without you :D!

  • Hello again :hello: I'm sorry I vanished towards the end of last year- life got a bit on top of us for a while. Thanks, Lucky, for running this challenge again. It's amazing how those little bits add up. I'm signing up again and the extra payments are going towards a house deposit this year. Good luck to all taking part this year.

    Thank you Lucky.
Kicking off the new year with a £12.00 overpayment.
Can you believe I have an overpayment of my water bill?.. so they have reduced my direct debit by 11.60 per month!
Brilliant ..snowballing it into overpayments before it gets sucked into the budget again.
