the hive active heating discount should swing it.

if you're going electronic, you may as well pay for zonal control

Outrageous price. Please get more quotes from independent RGI's.

According to the quote, you have a 30m gas run? Must be a big house.

Rads and valves around double what they will actually cost and bear in mind that British Gash will get that boiler for around 25% of what they are charging you.

Im all for making a profit but they are taking the p.

Look for quotes around half of the one you have.

thanks booty40uk yeah it is a fairly big house and it does require all pipes etc, and agree that the rads sound double price! I dont mind a bit extra (big 6 premium) but this is bonkers.

    Thanks

The radiator and valve prices alone are a joke. You can get decent brand TRV and valve sets for half the price from Screwfix and their Kudox radiators much cheaper. I'd estimate you're being overcharged for the rads and valves alone to the tune of £1-1.5k!

Even the fancy premium chrome "designer" Danfoss valves in Screwfix are cheaper than what they have quoted for what are probably very ordinary white plastic TRVs.

You can probably figure out which rads you need using an online BTU calculator. They all vary a bit but do several to get an average for each room. Generally you should need smaller rads upstairs if they are above heated rooms. I don't think it makes any difference in terms of efficiency whether you get single/double panel or double convector - as long as they meet your BTU requirements. Go according to the space you've got and where you want them, obviously a double panel double convector will give you more output for a smaller sized radiator.

Price it up on Screwfix, including valves (the Drayton TRV and lock shield bundle will do). That should give you an idea of the sort of price you should be paying. When I was shopping for rads a few plumbers got me prices that were close to the Screwfix prices but Screwfix were doing a free lock shield and TRV with each new rad at the time which swung it for me.
