So another month slips by on our debt free journey, how did it go for you?

All in all not too bad for me, on the 1st i had to cashflow a bill that i had forgotten to budget for, my annual travel insurance £170!! So i have now created a catagory for that on ynab so its sorted for next year.

Just before the end of the month i have had a slight return to spendy ways, couple of new shirts, take away etc. Trying to pinpoint why? and need to get my YNAB up to date to see the exact damage!! Its was no where near as bad as my old ways but a little worrying!!

No increase in my EF, and maybe a small decrease when i tot it all up today;-(

On the plus front another month without using overdraft!!! This is now my normal!! whoop!
Nothing put on credit card Whoop whoop!!

Come on June gimme all you've got!!

    Hey good work!

I am so glad May has gone, it was such a busy and spendy (budgeted) month.

But managed to earn an extra £10 from swagbucks to pay off one of my credit cards, and managed to spend £50 less on groceries this month too, which I have rolled over to next month, cutting this months allowance down :-)

Really need some new work clothes, so have been trolling discounts and sale sections, but I think I'll put that off til next month.

Finally got my juicer this month (thanks to watching fat, sick and nearly dead last year), and will be visiting the local grocers to check out their veg/fruit prices.

    Fantastic. Well done you.:T

I had a good month. I received a reconsidered PPI from RBS and when the cheque is cleared I will be able to pay off two thirds of my remaining debt.

I have spent a lot today and yesterday as it's the little ones birthday, bills were due and I had no t shirts whatsoever so had to buy a couple. No more spending now until I pay for the party, then it's money fasting until the end of the month.

Not a great month but not a disaster either. I had a puncture which was obviously unexpected and my tyres are expensive so that was a little setback. I also had to renew my car insurance which I had budgeted for and think I got a good deal, £220 with the possibility of £45 cashback.

June is going to see more expense on the car front and a stag do this weekend so it won't be a cheap month.

After lurking on these boards on and off for a while I got to grips with YNAB and managed a whole month without going overdrawn and better still I can tell you what I did spend money on instead of getting to the end a month and not having a clue where it all went...
4 new tyres to pass the MOT did the worst damage but by sharing the cost over 2 months it will even out quite quickly instead of being added to the debt. A new approach from me!
So thanks for the inspiration everyone

    YNAB..£30 via steam.

    not sure, running the trial

Is it worth £30 expense for a budget that can be done via a spreadsheet (without the cost)

Yup Ynab is in essence just a fancy spread sheet, but it workd really really well, its easy and straightforward and that means that i actually use it! Each to their own of course and if you can get a free one that works for you thats good, but i and loads of others prefer Ynab, it would be the best £30 i ever spent but i get mune free as i'm a student!
