need euros today

Options
Hello

I have to go to the south very early tomorrow morning and I need euros. where is the best place (best rate) to get them in Belfast city centre today.

Would prefer to have the cash in my hand rather than going with a ATM card. need about £250 worth.

Many thanks

Post Office today is only giving 1.25 on amounts up to £1000
Over that its 1.32 (the mid price for Euro today is 1.38)

a euro atm should beat 1.25?

Are these Euro ATMs "proper" ones (i.e. ones that charge the card in EUR) or do they do their own currency conversion and charge the card in GBP? If the former, they will probably be better than anything on the high street. If the latter it's hard to say - you'd need to try it and see what rate they offer.

Is the Post Office rate really 1.25? That's staggeringly awful... I can't believe they con people into changing money there. You're literally decimating your money!

Some people have said that Cash Converter type shops are good for changing money, but I've never tried them.

OP - would you still prefer cash rather than card even if it means losing £17 or so?
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

The ATM machines give you the exchange rate that is in that bank. I always get a good rate from them. Never had a problem with them yet or the rate I get :)

I use my Metro card at the First Trust EURO ATM facing City Hall and get no loading as long as I don't agree to be charged in £.
